Greetings, this is Decaying Moon. First uploaded fanfic, hopefully it'll be a success. In any case, I'll enjoy writing it (and that little voice in my head won't shut up unless it's written) so here we go!
Prologue
It was a particularly regular spring morning in the Land of Ooo. The sun had risen but an hour ago and was still in the process of evaporating the dew that covered the grass. The trees basked in the returning light, their branches reaching eagerly for the warmth as creatures began to stir amid the first musical chirpings of the birds.
If one had the power to be everywhere they would doubtlessly see some of Ooo's most renowned (and perhaps infamous) figures going about their morning routines. A sugary pink princess out on her balcony, greeting her beloved people with the new day. A young teen rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he descends to where an animated yellow dog cooks breakfast and whistles an upbeat tune. A vampire draining the color from her sheets in her sleep, dreaming of strawberries.
In the Ice Kingdom several penguins stood watch along the eastern border, mostly because they enjoyed the proximity to the inlet which divided their home from the north-eastern expanses of the grass lands. The water was cold enough that normal oceanic predators (things like giant sharks, sea monsters, and previously extinct Elasmosaurus) were forced to stick to warmer waters. Had to watch out for polar bears though. Crafty buggers. Three penguins dropped their ice halberds while the fourth kept his eye on the snow covered expanse they called home, little penguin ears straining for any sounds of music. After a few moments of scanning the horizon he noticed the lack of splashes, and the sudden appearance of a rather large shadow hanging over him. He turned around fully expecting to see a vicious, bloody mess with an old-school Sony Walkman. He instead found his three companions staring up at the sky. He traced their line of sight and spotted a large dot in the distance, falling through the air towards the far north-eastern expanses of the Grasslands. They watched it descend lower and lower towards the ground, even as a large white beast rose up behind them, hungry and enjoying his cassette. It too stopped and stared at the object as it neared the ground. The polar bear flipped the cassette over and pressed play, situation-appropriate music flowing through its cheap headphones. The object dropped below the mountains in the distance, quickly followed by a tremendous splash and a visible plume of water. A deafening boom echoed over the mountains and all of Ooo trembled in response.
A/N Well, there's the prologue. I must say that the only part of writing one I hate is that when I look at the chapter select thing in the corner the numbers won't match up. Bug. Me. Forever. Anyway, I'll try to update every other week at the latest. Hopefully you'll enjoy reading. Please comment and review, I love critique.
