"No one asked for your opinion, you filthy Mudblood."
When those nine words were spat at Hermione, I was naturally upset. That spoiled jerk Malfoy had gone a step too far and I wouldnt have it.
Stupid me.
"Eat slugs, Malfoy! "I yelled, just a split second before it dawned on me that my wand was broken. The green light came richoceting back at my face. I slid a couple feet backwards to Malfoys satisfaction.
I could already feel the slug in my throat and my mouth moved to accomodate it as Harry, Hermione and half the Gryffindor team ran over. "You okay Ron? "Hermione said first thing when she got to me. I made a muffled moaning noise as I got onto my elbows. "Say something! " she persisted more aggressively. I then felt my stomach fold up and spat out a big blue slug along with the slime. I heard Harry tell off Colin for trying to get pictures then hauled me to my feet.
"Lets take him to Hagrids." He dodged to avoid a slug."Hell know what to do." As Hermione and Harry half dragged me off the Quidditch grounds, I couldnt help but hear Slytherin laugh and Draco smirk at me like hed won.
At Hagrids, my situation wasnt getting any better. Hed said there was nothing to do until it stopped. I produced another slug." Ugh...oh, okay..." had come from one side, however Hermione was staring away from me.
"Well, better out than in." Hagrid said, disgusted. I begged to differ."Who was Ron trying to curse anyway? "Hermione was still silent, but Harry spoke up.
"Malfoy. He called Hermione a...um...well, I dont know what it means. "I cringed inside. Hermione wasnt going to be happy. She got up and walked to the window.
"He called me a mudblood."she said, barely able to say the word. Hagrid looked horrified.
"He didnt! " he said, outraged.
"Whats that? "Harry asked.
"It means dirty someone whos Muggle born, someone without magic parents, someone like me." Hermione said.
"Some wizards, like the Malfoy family, think that theyre better than everyone else because theyre pure blood." Hagrid said, the words pure blood said like they didnt exist. As I looked at Hermione, eyes glassy with tears, I thought to myself -was that really worth it? Giving myself this curse for Hermione?
She was enraging, maddening and sneaky. But she was also charming, smart and beautiful. Malfoy didnt have the sense to think about all of Hermione, the parts beside her origins. It had been worth it. She was my best friend.
"Thats horrible." Harry said. Now, I was on the verge of tears as I choked up an extremely large slug.
"Thats disgusting. "I whimpered miserably.
But it was worth it for Hermione.
