Normally Blaine gelled his hair to within an inch of its life, but today he was too tired. He found that he couldn't keep his eyes open long enough to complete the process. His big brother was coming to visit so Blaine had been hardly able to get any sleep last night. He told himself it was because he was excited but in his heart he knew it was anxiety. He hadn't spoken to Cooper since the Sadie Hawkins dance.

So – that was Blaine's reasoning for what his mother liked to call his "Harry Potter mop". His unruly curls bounced about his head as he made his way into school. On autopilot, Blaine made his way over to his boyfriend's locker. As Kurt sorted through his stuff Blaine leant heavily against the wall beside him.

"Good morning." he said wearily, making an effort to sound upbeat.

As soon as the words left his lips he winced at how forced they sounded. Kurt was not fooled and closed his locker door instantly.

"What's wrong – oh my god!" Blaine laughed at Kurt's surprise. "Did you run out of gel!"

"I'm just tired." he replied.

"What did you do to your hair!" Kurt spluttered.

"Believe it or not this is how it behaves naturally." Blaine told him, rubbing his eyes. "What do you think?"

Kurt stared. His boyfriend's hair was a mess, but it was a hot mess.

"It's going to take some getting used to."
