" I love you. You know that right? "
She guesses she should have, but some part of her couldn't quite grasp what he saw in her. She always thought that she would be the one to put her heart on the line, yet again. She had never had a man be so sure of his love for her. To voice it like it was the greatest discovery he has ever made. If she was being honest, frankly it scared the hell out of her. So, she said the worst thing she could have said in that moment.
" I do now. "
What is wrong with her? She has an amazing guy standing in front of her declaring his love, and she can't even reciprocate. She smiles and again offers her now feeble invite for dinner. She sees something flash in his eyes, but for now she won't dwell on it. It's only when she hears him follow a few steps behind, that she knows. Queen B is back. She had forgotten how cruel she could really be. Not only to others, but to herself as well. Blair Waldorf would've pulled him to her and kissed him with everything she had. She then would've looked him in the eyes and whispered the truest of truths.
" I love you too."
But she's not Blair Waldorf. No, Queen B is back. So she grabs his hand and leads him down the stairwell. She laughs and thanks him when he opens the cab door for her. After dinner, when he drops her off at home, she kisses him. She doesn't notice how he pulls away a little too soon. She hasn't once looked him in the eyes since they left the loft. Not out of fear for what's hidden there. No. Never. She's Queen B. But as she chances a glance up, her heart drops. She may be Queen B, but as she sees the sadness in his eyes, she realizes there may be yet another name to call herself.
Her own worst enemy.
