I knew this was a bad idea, Jack thought to himself, as he watched the seconds take hours to change.
'Jack…' a surprised Daniel said as he entered the SGC control-room. 'Didn't expect to see you here for another… hour', he said, looking at his watch.
'Neither did I. Caught an earlier flight', Jack explained, not taking his eyes off of the clock in the control room.
'You know, time won't pass by faster just because you stare at a clock', Daniel said.
'Yes it will', Jack said.
'No, it won't.'
'Daniel…'
'It won't…' Daniel said, staring at Jack for a few moments. Deciding he wasn't going to get a response, he proceeded up the stairs to the general's office.
Ten minutes later Jack had realised that Daniel was right, so he'd gone up to the conference room to pass the time by spinning around on one of the chairs.
'General', Landry said as he walked out of his office, holding a bunch of papers.
'Off-duty', Jack responded.
'Right. It might help pass the time', Landry responded.
'Forget it', Jack said, as he stopped spinning and started staring at his watch.
'That won't make time go faster', Landry said.
'Yes it will!' Jack said, looking indignant.
'Right…' Landry said, dropping the papers on the conference room desk and went back into his office.
Half-an-hour later Jack knocked on General Landry's door. 'Come in', Landry said.
'It's all fine', Jack said, dropping the papers on Landry's desk, and then sitting down on a chair in front of the desk.
'Why are you here?' Landry asked.
'Because I thought me being here earlier would make Carter be here earlier.'
'That didn't work well, did it?'
'No', Jack responded, as he stood up and walked out of the office, on his way to the commissary.
Best idea I've had all day, Jack thought to himself as he walked out of the commissary half-an-hour later, having found a way to finally kill some time: eating. Carter was due back any minute now, so Jack duly headed towards the Gateroom, happy to be able to see his wife for the first time in two months.
As Sam headed down the ramp, the first sight that greeted her wasn't of Jack, but that of Jack's body with a glass of blue Jell-o in front of his face. Sam stopped in front of Jack, dropped her bags, and laughed. The Jell-o said Welcome back, darling.
'Sorry, you must be mistaking me for someone else. I'm not married to you, Mr Jell-O.'
'Oh damn.'
'Hi Jack', Sam said, grabbing the Jell-O out of Jack's hand.
'Hi, darling', Jack said, and leaned in to kiss Sam.
'Too late!' Sam said, quickly shoving a spoon-full of Jell-O in her mouth.
'Not fair', Jack said.
'Sorry', Sam said, as she finally returned Jack's kiss.
'I love you', Jack said.
'I love you too', Sam said.
