Wait For Me

I told him to wait for me. I didn't mean to say those words, those three little words were supposed to be something else. I was supposed to tell him how I felt before I left, instead I said 'wait for me' I went off to conquer one of the most feared wizards off all time, and I knew I wouldn't be coming back. He knew it too, I saw it in his eyes. We each lost something that day, mine was my life. He lost his best friend, a friend that couldn't even tell him what he really wanted too. The whole time I was fighting I was thinking about him. His eyes, his sense of humor, his smile, even his sneer, all his features were attractive to me because that was who he was, and I loved all of him. It took so much willpower to leave him that day, to tell him to wait for me when I knew that he was only going to get hurt to find that I wasn't coming back. I berated myself for not telling him how I felt, but I knew why I didn't. I was afraid, afraid that the last words he ever told me would be that he didn't feel the same way. I needed to stay strong, if I had told him and he didn't feel the same way I would have crumbled to the ground like a wounded puppy. I needed to be the hero for everyone, and if that's what it took for me to be a hero and stay strong if only for a little while, then so be it. I only wish that he has a good life, that he can move on, marry a nice witch and have children to look after. He'll soon forget about me and that's the way it needs to be, because he needs to find some happiness in life, even when I couldn't. I did this for you Draco, every step I had taken to win this battle was for you. I tried to be strong enough to live, but I guess I just didn't train hard enough, maybe I just couldn't stand the thought of unrequited love? I know you'll hurt at first, but give it time and I know you'll find happiness with someone who means more to you than I ever could. Please don't wait for me┘
