Hiccups

"Nicky wake up." Jackie said as she shook him.

"What is it? Are you in labor?" He asked as he immediately sat up and turned the light on.

"No I'm not in labor, but feel this." She said as she grabbed his hand and laid it on her stomach.

"I don't feel anything." He said as he gave her a puzzled look.

"Just wait a second, you will." She told him.

A few seconds later he felt a little flutter.

"Feel that?" she asked.

"Yeah, that's awesome." He said with a smile and then removed his hand.

"No no, keep your hand there." She said as she again grabbed his hand and laid it on her stomach in the same spot.

Moments later came another flutter.

"What is that, a hand or a foot?" he asked.

"I don't think it's either." She told him.

"Then what is it?"

She smiled at him

"I think the baby has the hiccups." She said.

"Oh." He said, beaming from ear to ear.

Jackie smiled at him, she really loved how much interest he showed about the pregnancy, it meant a lot to her that he was so supportive. His smile got a little bigger as he felt another flutter.

"I hate the hiccups." She said.

"Why does that hurt you?" He asked.

"No it doesn't hurt, I meant I hate having the hiccups myself, they're miserable. I feel bad for the baby"

"Oh, yeah I know." He agreed as he removed his hand from her stomach and grabbed her hand.

A while later she grimaced slightly.

"You ok?"

"Yeah, I'm ok, but I think the baby is getting irritated with having the hiccups because she just kicked me, hard."

Nick chuckled.

He put his hand on Jackie's stomach again.

"Now baby girl, go easy, it's not mommy's fault." He said with a smile.

Jackie laughed and Nick smiled.

"I'm sorry I woke you but I thought you'd like to feel this, it's pretty cool."

"No, don't apologize, I'm glad you did wake me."

"Thank you." She said.

"For what?" He asked confused.

"For being so loving towards me and the kids and for being so excited and involved in the pregnancy. A lot of guys would have gotten mad at their wife for waking them up to simply feel their stomach."

"Then they are idiots." He said simply and sincerely.

"I love you." She said as she leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"I love you too." He said.

She smiled at him.

"Does she still have the hiccups?" He asked.

"I don't think so, I haven't felt any flutters for a while or any more hard kicks."

"That's good, then maybe you can get back to sleep." He said.

"Hopefully, I'm tired." She agreed.

Nick smiled and reached up and turned off the light.

It didn't take either of them long to fall back asleep.

The End!
