A short little one-shot based on a tumblr leverage headcanon, I don't ship these two but I like the headcanon. Tell me what you think about it :)
Prompt: Sophie and Eliot hooked up in season one. This is why he was so pissed at her betrayal in the First/Second David Job – he thought he knew her better than he did.
To most people it seemed that Eliot Spencer wasn't very picky when it came to the women he dated, seeing as how there were many women and they were all different, but that idea was very far from the truth. It's true that he enjoys spending time with beautiful women but he doesn't date women for their appearance. He looks for more than just a pretty face. Intelligence. Passion. Humor. These are the things Eliot looks for in a woman.
Eliot wasn't one to waste time, if he was going to date someone, he wanted to enjoy the time they spent together and that meant being able to hold a conversation. Eliot knew people saw him as less than smart, and that was kind of the point, but when it came to women he loved being able to sit for hours and debate the latest book they'd read or learn something he never knew.
They also had to be passionate. Every woman he has every dated was passionate about something. Aimee had loved horses and Julie, the neurosurgeon, could make the science behind neurological functions sound interesting through her enthusiasm. Jessica had loved reading more than anyone he'd ever met and Hayley's art was truly amazing. Their love shined through them and made spending time with them all the more fun.
And they were all fun, each with a sense of humor not quite the same as the woman before her. Some of the women had a darker sense of humor, full of sarcasm, while others would laugh at every pun and others had a witty banter that sometimes he could barely keep up with. Lorelai had kept him on his toes for a few weeks, always having a snappy comeback or silly joke. Eliot insisted that the only woman he ever loved was Aimee but he cared for each of the women he had been with and considered almost all of them friends to this day.
However, with preferences like these, it shouldn't have come as a surprise when he woke up next to one of his teammates. Undeniable beautiful, unashamedly passionate, incredibly intelligent, and unexpectedly funny, Eliot couldn't help but be drawn to her. And for whatever unfathomable reason, she was drawn to him.
So, for one night, they came together. They shared themselves in ways that they hadn't in years. He made her dinner and she told him secrets she hadn't shared with anyone. They talked for hours, sharing history, discussing the present, and pondering the future. And as the hour grew later, they found themselves sitting in the couch, almost touching, but not quite. The electricity jumping between them until finally neither one can stand it. Nobody started the kiss, it was completely mutual. He stopped just long enough to make sure this is what she wanted and then they were gone, lost to the passion.
When she woke the next morning happier than she'd been in a long time, she found the bed otherwise empty and was surprised at the disappointment she felt. And then the door opened and he asked if she wanted tea or coffee.
Nothing could come of the night and they both knew this but still, it changed their relationship forever. They had shared too much for it not to. He knew her in ways that no one on the team did.
Perhaps that's why her betrayal hurt so much. He had trusted her and thought he knew her but he should've known better. After all, he had learned a long time ago that he couldn't trust anyone but himself and Sophie Devereaux is a world class grifter, nobody really knows her.
