Linda and Lara were floating in the air.
"What the hell just happened?" Lara asked Linda.
"I dunno," Linda replied, "but it looks like you can fly,...Power Girl."
Lara grinned. "Cool!"
"I think that we oughta get you checked out." Linda told her. "Tomorrow, I'll call my doctor and find out if she can examine you."
Linda sat on her bed, and Lara sat to her left.
Linda took off her headband and wig. She tossed them onto the floor. She took off her boots and socks and dropped them on the floor.
"Lara, I don't want to freak you out or anything, but...are you adopted?" Linda asked.
"Not that I know of." Lara replied.
"Both of your parents have dark hair." Linda said.
"Yeah, well, some people are born with blonde hair that never darkens." Lara said.
"That's true." Linda agreed. "It's a good way to explain Riot on 'Jem'. Do you want to ask your parents?"
Lara was silent for a moment. "Not yet."

Linda picked up the receiver in the kitchen and dialed her doctor's office number.
The phone rang once.
"Hello?" a woman asked.
"This is Linda Danvers. May I please speak to Dr. Davidson?"
"Sure. One moment."
Linda was put on hold for ten seconds.
"Hello, Linda." Dr. Davidson greeted. "This is the first time that you've ever called me. What can I do for you?"
"Not me." Linda told her. "My roommate. We have a little mystery."
"Okay, come over at two." Dr. Davidson said.
"Okay, thanks." Linda said.
"No problem." Dr. Davidson said. "Bye."
"Bye." Linda hung up the receiver.
Linda and Lara were sitting in the reception area of Dr. Davidson's office.
A door opened, and a man walked out of the room. He signed out at the counter and went outside.
Dr. Davidson came and stood in the doorway. "Lara?"
Lara stood up. "Yes."
Dr. Davidson smiled. "Come in."
Linda stood up and followed Lara into the other room.
Dr. Davidson closed the door and turned to face the girls. "So, you're Linda."
"Yeah." Linda said.
"What's the mystery, Lara?" Dr. Davidson asked.
"Well, last night, at a party, I started floating." Lara told her.
"Floating?" Dr. Davidson was silent for a moment. "Were you on anything?"
"Yeah, air." Lara replied in an angry tone.
"I wouldn't have asked for this appointment over a misperception." Linda added angrily.
"Okay, I'm sorry." Dr. Davidson said. "Have a seat."
Lara sat on the examination table.
"Has this ever happened before?" Dr. Davidson asked.
"No." Lara replied.
"Has it happened again since last night?" Dr. Davidson asked.
"No." Lara replied.
"Are you adopted?" Dr. Davidson asked.
"Not to my knowledge." Lara replied.
"Have either of your parents shown signs of having any kind of powers?" Dr. Davidson asked.
"Not to my knowledge." Lara replied.
"What about your strength and speed?" Dr. Davidson asked.
"Well, I don't run a lot, so I'm not sure about my speed." Lara shrugged. "I guess I've always been stronger than average."
Dr. Davidson was silent for a moment. "I'd like to take a blood sample to analyze."
"Okay." Lara said.
Dr. Davidson went and put on latex gloves. She got a new needle out of a box. She walked back over to Lara.
"Roll up your sleeve." Dr. Davidson said.
Lara rolled up her sweater's left sleeve and then pulled up her shirt's left sleeve.
Dr. Davidson inserted the needle into Lara's left arm and drew blood out of Lara's body. She then removed the needle from Lara's arm.
"Hurt?" Dr. Davidson asked her.
"No." Lara replied.
"It was kinda hard to insert the needle." Dr. Davidson told her.
"Meaning what?" Lara asked her.
"Nothing...yet." Dr. Davidson replied. "I'll let you know in a week."
"Okay, thanks." Lara said.

Linda and Lara were sitting on the couch in the living room, Linda to Lara's right.
Lara picked up the remote control, pressed the mute button, and put the remote control back on the coffee table.
"What the hell was that?" Lara asked. "Do the writers really expect us to believe that so many people hate the French?"
"I dunno, but it's worse than that." Linda told her. "Let's look at the basic plot. Everybody that's invited to the Neighborhood Watch just happens to hate the French. All of these same people are simultaneously relieved to learn that the Duprees aren't French. All of these same people just happen to hate Muslims as well. Finally, all of these same people just happen to show up at the Camdens' front door at the end of the episode. I detect improbability."

Linda and Lara were sitting at their computers.
"Trinity died." Linda told Lara.
"Well, that's bullshit." Lara said. "I'm not gonna go see it."
"Me neither." Linda said. "I've grown attached to her over the previous two movies. I'm not gonna spend good money to watch her die."
Saturday, November 8, 2003, 9:24 AM
Linda and Lara walked out of their bedroom.
"Do you need the car today?" Linda asked.
"No." Lara replied.
"Okay." Linda said.
The phone rang.
Lara walked into the kitchen and picked up the receiver.
"Hello?" Lara asked. She was silent for a moment. "This is her." She was silent for a moment. "Yeah?" She was silent for a moment. "Okay, thanks." She was silent for a moment. "Bye."
Lara hung up the receiver. She walked back into the living room.
"You're a mutant." Linda said.
Lara laughed. "I can't get used to you doing that."
Linda smiled. "You will. Okay, we'll go out and get some pics of Supergirl doing her heroics, and then I'll bring you home and go to work. When I get off, I'll pick you up, and we'll go to the gym."
"The gym?" Lara asked. "Why?"
"I want to test your strength." Linda replied.
Linda and Lara walked into a health club.
They walked over to the counter.
"Hello." the woman behind the counter greeted.
"Hi." Lara said. "I'd like to lift some weights."
"We're offering a free trial for one week." the woman told her.
"Cool." Lara said.
"You interested, too?" the woman asked Linda.
"No, I'm her personal trainer." Linda replied.
"All right." the woman said.
Lara and Linda walked over to the automatic door, waited until it slid open, and walked into the gym.
"Let's try bench presses." Linda said.
They walked over.
Lara sat down and held the handles. "Set it for 10 pounds."
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weight. "No problem."
She lowered the weight.
"Set it for 50." Lara said.
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weight. "Okay."
She lowered the weight.
"Set it for 100." Lara said.
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weight. "I've never lifted that much before."
She lowered the weight.
"Set it for 150." Lara said.
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weights. She lowered the weights.
"More." Lara said.
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weights. She lowered the weights.
"More." Lara said.
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weights. She lowered the weights.
"More." Lara said.
"Are you sure?" Linda asked.
"Yeah." Lara replied.
Linda set it. "Okay."
Lara pulled and lifted the weights. "How much is that?"
"500 pounds." Linda replied.
Lara was silent for a moment. "That's good for now."
She lowered the weights, let go of the handles, and stood up.
"Let's test your speed now." Linda told her. "Get on the treadmill."
Lara and Linda walked over to a treadmill. Lara got on it.
"Start slow and then slowly increase the speed." Linda told her.
Lara set the speed for 1 mph.
The treadmill started, and Lara started walking.
Lara increased the speed to 2 mph and walked faster. She increased the speed to 5 mph and started running. She increased the speed to 10mph, then 20 mph, then 30 mph, then 40 mph, then 50mph, then 100 mph.
"Stop." Linda told her.
Lara stopped the treadmill and stopped running. She was sweating.
"You don't seem to be as strong or as fast as me...yet." Linda told her. "Keep working out, though. We'll discover your true potential."
"Okay." Lara got off of the treadmill. "Is there anything else that we can test here?"
"Not really." Linda replied. "Let's go home."
Linda opened the screen door and then unlocked and opened the front door.
She and Lara walked into their living room.
Lara closed and locked the screen door behind her. Then she closed and locked the front door.
Linda and Lara walked into the kitchen.
"I'm gonna call my parents now." Lara said.
"Okay." Linda said.
Lara picked up the receiver and dialed her parents' home phone number.
She was silent for a moment.
"Hi, mom." Lara said. She was silent for a moment. "I've got something to tell you. On October 31, I suddenly started floating." She was silent for a moment. "Yeah. Linda took me to her doctor the next day. The doctor took my blood, and I got the test results today. I'm a mutant." She was silent for a moment. "Linda took me to the gym today. We just got back. I can lift 500 pounds and run 100 miles per hour." She was silent for a moment. "Have you or dad ever experienced anything like this?" She was silent for a moment. "Okay. Well, I wanted to let ya know." She was silent for a moment. "Okay, bye."
Lara hung up the receiver.

Linda, dressed in her Supergirl costume, walked out the front door of her house.
Lara, dressed in sneakers, sweatpants, and a sweatshirt, walked out after her.
Linda put her house key into her left hotpants pocket and closed the front door, locking it.
The two girls walked into the driveway. Linda was wearing a micro-tape recorder on the left side of her pants.
"Okay, let's run to the 7-11." Linda told Lara.
"Okay." Lara said.
Linda pressed Play on the recorder.
"The Touch" by Stan Bush started playing.
Linda started running, and Lara ran after her.
They soon arrived at the 7-11. They stopped running.
Linda pressed Stop on the recorder.
"Good." Linda told her. "You're sweating, though."
"Oh, shut up." Lara said.
Linda laughed and opened the front door.
Lara walked into the 7-11, and Linda followed.
They walked over to the cooler.
Lara opened a door and took out a Rockstar Energy Drink.
Linda took out two of them.
Lara stared at her. "You're not gonna drink those; are you? Just one of those has twice the caffeine of a regular energy drink."
"I know." Linda replied.
Lara closed the door.
She and Linda walked over to the counter and placed the cans on it.
"She'll pay for these." Lara said.
The cashier totaled the price.
Linda got her wallet out of her left pocket. Her key fell out. She bent over and picked it up. She put the key back into her pocket. She opened her wallet, took out four $1 bills and change, put the money on the counter, closed her wallet, and put it back into her pocket.
The cashier counted up the money and put it into the register. "Thank you. Would you like a bag for those?"
"No, thanks. We're gonna drink 'em now." Linda replied.
"Okay." the cashier said. "Supergirl, I was wondering if you could sign an autograph for my daughter. She's a really big fan of yours."
"Sure." Linda agreed.
The woman got a sheet of paper and a pen and placed them on the counter.
Linda picked up the pen with her right hand. "What's her name?"
"Tina." the woman replied.
Linda wrote: Dear Tina, Thanks for being such a great fan! Love, Kara Zor-El - Supergirl
She clicked the pen closed and put it on the counter.
The cashier took the paper and pen. "Thank you."
Linda smiled. "No problem. Have a good day."
The cashier smiled. "Thanks. You, too."
Lara picked up her can. Linda picked up her cans.
The two girls walked over to the door.
Lara opened the door. Linda walked outside, and Lara followed.
Linda opened one of her cans. Lara opened her own can. They started drinking.
When Linda was finished with her drink, she squeezed the can and threw it and the tab into the trash can. She opened her second can and started drinking her drink.
Lara finished her own drink, squeezed her can, and threw it and the tab into the trash can.
Linda finished her second drink, squeezed the can, and threw it and the tab into the trash can.
Lara stared at her. "Just what this city needs: a Supergirl on an insane amount of caffeine."
"Oh, caffeine doesn't affect me." Linda told her. "Hey, c'mon, I'll race ya home."
Linda ran off, leaving Lara far behind.

Linda and Lara were sitting on the couch in the living room, Linda to Lara's right.
Lara picked up the remote control, pressed the mute button, and put the remote control back on the coffee table.
"What the hell was Martin's problem?" Lara asked. "Why was he so adamant about Cecilia telling the Camdens that she's dating him?"
"I dunno." Linda replied. "It made no sense. Cecilia and Simon had broken up already. If I was Cecilia, I would have broken up with Martin. He's a dickhead. Personally, I think that it's none of my parents' business who I date, so it's certainly none of my ex-boyfriend's parents' business - that is if I had an ex-boyfriend. Lucy was stupid tonight, too. She got mad at Kevin for not telling her about the softball game, even though she sucks at it, then she got mad at him for telling her that she sucks. What's her problem?"

Linda, dressed in her Supergirl costume, was flying above Chicago on patrol.
Suddenly, Linda heard a woman's voice: "Help!!! There's a burglar in my house!!!"
Then, Linda heard a girl yelling "No! I don't want to! Stop it! Get your fucking hands off me!"
Linda decided to go to the girl.
She arrived there in a minute.
A teenaged girl was trying to get out of the passenger seat of a parked car in a park. A teenaged boy in the driver seat was trying to hold her in place. The girl was struggling.
Linda pulled off the driver side door and threw it on the ground. She pulled the boy out of the car.
"Hey! Hands off, bitch!" the boy yelled.
"You shouldn't talk!" Linda yelled at him.
Linda quickly brought her left knee up, hitting the boy's crotch.
The boy started screaming in pain.
The girl opened the passenger door and got out of the car. "Thank you, Supergirl!"
"Get out of here and call the police!" Linda told her. "I gotta go! I've got another emergency!"
Linda flew into the air and went in the direction of where the woman's voice had come from.
She arrived there in two minutes.
Linda saw a man running away from a house. He was holding a gun in his right hand. He fired five shots at Linda, hitting her. The bullets bounced off of Linda's chest and head.
The man kept pulling the trigger. The gun was out of bullets.
Linda raised her right leg and kicked the man's crotch. He screamed and fell over in pain.
Then Linda ran over to the front porch and up the stairs. She opened the screen door and ran into the house. She found the woman lying on the floor in the living room. The woman had been shot in the chest. Linda crouched down and checked for a pulse. There wasn't any.
Sadly, Linda stood up straight, walked over to the phone, and picked up the receiver. She dialed 911.
"911. What's your emergency?" the operator asked.
"I'm at 2533 North New England Street." Linda told him. "A woman has just been shot by a burglar. He's lying on the ground outside, and he's not going anywhere. I didn't arrive in time to save the woman, though. She's dead."
"Okay, ma'am, we'll send someone right out. Please wait for the police." the operator instructed.
"Okay." Linda said.
"What's your name?" the operator asked her.
"Kara Zor-El." Linda replied.
The operator was silent for a moment. "Okay. Thank you."
Linda hung up the receiver.
She walked outside.
Lara was just pulling up in their car.
Linda walked down the steps and over to the car.
The driver door opened, and Lara got out of the car. She closed the door and walked over to Linda.
"What happened?" Lara asked her.
"I got the bad guy - but not before he killed someone." Linda replied. "I have to wait for the police."
"I guess no pictures from this adventure." Lara said.
"Take a picture of the burglar. Then take a picture of me." Linda told her.
"You sure?" Lara asked her.
"Yeah." Linda replied. "People should learn that Supergirl can't save everyone."
Lara walked over to the burglar and took a picture of him. Then she turned and took a picture of Linda from behind.
"Now, go home." Linda told her. "I'll leave as soon as I talk to the cops."
Linda walked into the living room.
She closed and locked the screen door and front door behind her.
Linda walked into the kitchen.
"Take off your shirt." Lara told her.
Linda took off her shirt and put it on the table.
"Sit down. I'll be right back." Lara told her.
Linda sat in her chair.
Lara walked into the living room and into their bedroom.
She came back with a bottle.
Lara opened the bottle and squirted the liquid onto Linda's back. She set the bottle on the table and started rubbing the liquid on Linda's back and shoulders.
"How are you feeling?" Lara asked.
"I don't know." Linda replied. "I went to save someone that I believed was probably going to be raped before trying to save someone that I believed was probably going to die. If I had gone to the woman first, she might still be alive."
"And the girl might have been raped - even killed." Lara told her. "Linda, like you said, you can't save everyone. You have to make choices, sacrificing some lives to save other lives. It sucks, but you have to deal with it."
"And you still want to be a super-hero?" Linda asked.
