"Get me a line to that ship now!" The Doctor roars, pulling the injured helmsman out of his seat and taking his place. Fingers fly across the console, trying to get his ship back under control. With practiced ease he manages to compensate for the starboard nacelle being out.

"Pond! Tell me you've got weapons back." He calls to the engineer over the com.

"2 minutes. And get Rory down here." She responds over the ruckus.

"You heard her Williams." He nods at the nurse, who's been manning weapons for the last few minutes. He briefly watches Rory leave, knowing that between him and Amy, he has nothing to worry about. Focusing on the helm, he punches in a few more commands to steady the crippled ship.

"Sir, I've established communications with the Bannerman." The ensign who took over communications informs him.

Without a second thought he yells out "Sarah, what's going on?"

"Oh nothing, just the usual." Comes the garbled response, and he can almost swear she's smiling. "Come to rescue me again Doctor?"

"Just returning the favor, god knows you've rescued me enough times as well." He half smiles, and for a moment he's not on a crippled ship, he's on Earth talking with an old friend.

Then Sarah brings him back to reality. "I've got no shields, barley got life support and everyone on the bridge is dead."

Anyone else wouldn't hear the underlying sadness in her voice, that tone that says she's barley holding together. But he knows she'll keep it together, he know's her too well, she doesn't like to give up."What about weapons?"

"Phasers, and one torpedo."

"Do you think you can lay down cover fire?" He asks, a plan beginning to form.

"When, where and how long?" She immediately catches his train of thought, but then she's always been clever. And knows him better than half of Starfleet.

"Long enough for me to sneak up from the side. Maybe 2 minutes." He responds, tapping the console. "I just sent you the plan."

"Got it. What does it say about my sanity that I trust your plans?" She laughs.

"Only that we've known each other way too long Sarah." He raises the com on his ship, "Rose, get Mickey and get to the transporter."

"Doctor?" She inquires, confused as to why she would be transporting in the middle of a battle.

"You two are gonna beam over to the Bannerman and help provide a distraction. And don't object to it Rose, I need you over there because you're the best damn pilot I've got and they've lost shields." He immediately cuts off the argument he know's she's gonna make.

"What about Mickey?"

"He's gonna work his magic on their remaining photon torpedo."

"You got it boss." Mickey responds, obviously Rose caught up to him.

"Tell them to transport you right to the bridge, I don't know how heavily damaged she is and I don't want to waste time." He cuts the link before they can respond.

"Sarah, I'm sending over Mickey and Rose, Rose'll keep your ship in one piece and Mickey's got a special modification for your last torpedo."

"I'll take care of them Doctor, don't worry. What's the signal?" Sarah manages to go from friend to officer in .2 seconds.

"Usual, whistle." He grins even though she can't see him. And he knows she rolls her eyes at him.

"Sometimes you are completely infuriating." And with that she cuts the link.
