Tonks smiled as she looked down at her son in the crib. "I love you so much Teddy" she whispered. "I hope you grow up to be just like your father, smart, sensitive and just a pinch of mischief." She started to choke back the tears as she reached in to pick him up and hold him. "You are so perfect; I wish we had more time together as a family, time is slipping away from us I can feel it." Tears began to stream down her cheeks as Teddy wrapped his hand around her finger in his sleep.

"Dora, what are you doing?" Lupin asked from the doorway.

"Just spending a few moments with Teddy." She sniffed and wiped her cheeks. "Remus, what if we don't make it through this? Who will take care of him as he grows up? Harry is still a child himself, how will he be able to take care of Teddy?"

"Love, things will work out. Teddy will be loved and taken care of." Remus came up to his wife and wrapped his arms around her looking at their son over her shoulder. "If something happens he will have your mom, Harry, Arthur, Molly and all of the Wesley's, he will be surrounded by love."

"You're right, but it won't be the same. I just want to be the one to take him to the platform and send him off to school; I want to receive that first owl when he sends us a letter telling us where he has been sorted. There are so many firsts I want to be there for." Tonks turned to her husband cradling Teddy between them.

"I know Dora, but we can't predict the future. Hopefully we will be here to go through all those firsts with him, first and foremost we need to focus on making the world a safe place for him love." Remus tried to reign in his emotions and be positive for Tonks' sake, he knew she was hurting and wanted to try to make this time as a family happy and loving. "I know how about we go to the kitchen for a nice cup of hot chocolate? Teddy still has an hour left in his nap, and then when he wakes up we can spend some time in the nursery just playing. How does that sound?"

Turning to place their baby boy back in his crib Tonks smiles and nods her head as she wraps her arm around her husband's waist. She leaves the nursery knowing somewhere deep down these will be the last few days the family of three will spend together on this side of the veil.
