In the depths of the New Thallonian Protectorate, a Starfleet Science Vessel, the USS Everest, was immersed in a spacial anomaly that had only been recorded once. Unfortunately for the crew of the Everest they didn't discover this until it was to late.
On the bridge, a lone person remained alive. It would not be long before even the one would be no more.
The Science Officer Lieutenant Commander Latar coughed as she programmed the last of the information into the beacon in a hope that it would be able to contact Starfleet Command. What looked like a red boil oozed as it burst open a reddish-green fluid dripped down the side of her neck. She gave an involuntary gasp as the air filled with a noxious vapor.
The Vulcan woman barely had time to enter the last sequence and launch the beacon into space before she convulsed, collapsing onto the deck of the ship.
A large sphere shaped ship seemed to materialize out of nowhere. It sent a scan through the drifting science vessel. After a few minutes the strange satellite vanished as quickly as it had appeared, leaving no trace that it had ever been there at all.
The beacon shot away from its parent racing toward Federation space, the rhythmic transmissions being sent ahead incase another ship would be able to relay its information.
An unseen distortion pulsed out from the hidden orb spreading out in all directions. The invisible energy slammed into the modified probe scrambling the internal circuits causing the satellites information to become jumbled. It stayed on course from the strength of the force pushing the metal object where it had been programed to go.
