It happened so fast.

The Sith just threw his lightsaber and it cut through Ezra like nothing.

Why? It wasn't even a split second I couldn't even see it.

He went down with a scream of agony.

His lightsaber rolled to my feet.

With a cry of anguish I picked it up and charged at the sith, seeing red.

The crew looked up from running to Ezra just in time to see me cut the sith in half.

I ran back to Ezra tears dripping from my eyes. WHY?

I saw his mezmorizing royal blue eyes flutter shut.

He was just bleeding to much. We were trying the best we could to stop but he was just losing blood too fast.

"HERA! GET THE KID BACK TO THE GHOST! NOW!"

She didn't need another update.

Zeb just stood there in shock while Sabine was trying so hard not to break down.

I just realized that I was shaking and there was moisture coming down from my face. Oh, wait. Those were my tears.

My hands are soaked. With Ezra's blood.

I couldn't protect him. I couldn't protect him. I repeated this over and over in my head. I sunk to the ground not caring where I landed.

"Kanan! Kanan!" Zeb was telling me to get up and go before reinforcments arrived. It just seemed so far away.

But no. He was right. Ezra could still survive this. And I will be there for him, even if I couldn't protect him just then.

I promise you Ezra. Even if it's the last thing I do.
