What is right?
Jo was looking over at her daughter, she was at the moment watching TV, at this very moment Crossing Jordan. She had just returned from being over at her friend Macy's. Josephine smiled by the fact that she was home safe and sound, glad something hadn't happened to her, considering how many predators that was loose in the city at this very point. Most likely more than she even knew about.
Having just solved the case regarding two vigilantes she couldn't help but to wonder just how far she would go if anyone hurt her little girl. It was so easy to tell someone, especially a former rape victim that they had acted wrongly about killing the guy that did it. Looking over at her little girl she knew she most likely would have done exactly the same thing. Have mercy upon the one that ever hurt her little girl.
Even if it was just a broken heart, which Jo knew most likely were to happen in the future. How could it not? Her daughter was after all a beautiful girl, and she wasn't unaware of handsome boys. Jo knew as much. For all she knew her daughter could have crush on a handsome boy this very moment, she knew all too well she couldn't shelter her forever, even if she wanted to.
Seeing what she saw every day at work she sometimes wished she could have her locked up, as a mother she couldn't help but to worry about her little girl, that truth to be told wasn't all that little anymore. Sometimes Jo wondered where time had gone. She could still remember Ellie's first day at school. How she didn't want to let her go just yet, knowing she had to.
A sigh escaped her lips just as Ellie turned to look at her. Most likely due to it being a commercial break just then. It happened ever so often that she would see her mother troubled, in Ellie's eyes she was worrying way too much. She smiled at her, asking, "You wanna watch with me?"
"Sure, did you do your homework at Macy's?" Jo asked sitting down next to her.
Usually Ellie would have rolled her eyes, followed by the standard 'moom,', but not today , she sensed it was something troubling her mother, so she said, "I did, was having a little trouble, but Macy helped. How was your day?"
"Troublesome, sometimes I wish people were nice to each other," said Jo with a sigh.
"If they were, you would be out of a job," Ellie pointed out.
A small laugh escaped Jo's lips as she said, "Sometimes you're too smart for your own good."
"I learned it from you," said Ellie and smiled at her mother. Oh how Jo loved that smile. She reached out and hugged her, right now she needed to be close to her. For once Ellie let her, as she broke free, Ellie asked, "So did you catch the bad guy?"
Jo nodded, as she sighed saying, "I did, but for once I didn't have to."
"You're a great cop, mom, if you put them away I'm sure it was well deserved," said Ellie, making her doubts disappear. She wondered how her daughter always managed to find the right words to cheer her up when she needed it.
"I suppose you are right, Ellie, I suppose you're right," said Jo, as another laugh escaped her lips. Right now she was very thankful for her little girl.
"Aren't I always?" Ellie asked with a frown.
"Don't push it," said Jo.
"Oh, be quiet, it's starting up again," said Ellie, her eyes back at the screen. Jo just shook her head, glad that some things never changed, glad that shows like that was made to escape her worries, if only for a while. Yes, at that very moment Josephine Danville felt very fortunate to have someone to come home to, so she didn't at that moment have to worry about what was right.
