The full moon stood high in the sky. The stars seemed to sparkle with light that night. Moonlight streamed down on the lush grasses in Republic City's park. Two figures sat next to each other. They both enjoyed feeling the peace of the night.
"I like someone..." The girl's sweet voice broke the calming silence. She shifted slightly and leaned her head softly against the boy's shoulder.
"Who?" He asked not betraying any emotion. The girl's dark blue eyes shone in the moonlight.
"No, I love someone."
"Can you tell me?" The boy asked again growing more curious as he shifted his eyes to look down at her. The girl gave a loving sigh and nodded before looking straight up into his amber eyes.
"It starts with a y and ends with a u." She said as a slow smile spread across her lips. The boy looked down at her and smiled back.
"I like that person too." The girl sat up and looked at him surprised.
"Y-you do?" She asked with wide eyes.
"Yes. Melody, there is no doubt in my mind that I love you." The boy said softly. Melody looked away as she felt a blush creep up her cheeks. Suddenly she felt a hand on the side of her face lifting it up to face the Firebender. "Truthfully, I could talk about you all day and all night and still have a millions words to say about you. You are beautiful, courageous, and an amazing person. But too many words have become meaningless so I'll leave it at this. You're the most wonderful person I've ever met and I can't imagine my life without you." At this he paused to let his words sink in before moving his face closer to Melody's. "You have no idea how fast my heart beats when I look at you." He said with one of his rare yet sweet smiles.
"Mako..." Was the only word Melody could speak before she felt his lips pressed softly against her's. She was only surprised for a moment but then she sincerely kissed him back. Melody had never kissed a boy before and it was like nothing she'd ever experienced in her life and before she knew it Melody felt as if she were melting in his arms. It only lasted a few moments as they broke away from their sweet kiss. Melody was aware of nothing else in the world but her and Mako. As they sat there getting lost in one another's eyes. Their bliss ended rather abruptly however as sirens brought them back into reality. Melody's eyes widened and she leapt to her feet. The two looked at each other with a knowing look in their eyes.
"Korra!" They exclaimed at the same time as they raced off through the park to rescue their friend. As they ran it was rather obvious that both had other things burning in minds than Korra. Melody was reminded of what her father had said long before warning her about Mako, 'You have no idea what he's capable of.' She smirked and licked her lips.
"I think I have a pretty good idea."
