Yes you may have seen this on tumblr, and that's my new tumblr! This story was written in honor of that and it being Pepperony week of course. Also has everyone heard the news yet? Spoilers for TV show so don't read the rest if you don't want to know. COULSON LIVES! In other news, I'm still working on Come Over but real life has been crazy so far. Crazy in a good way though so I guess I can't complain. Anyway, on with the story!
He was screwed. There was no other way to describe his situation. It was Pepper's birthday tomorrow and he had nothing. At least he hadn't forgotten, but he didn't think Pepper would believe that without a present.
"Jarvis, what should I get Pep?"
"I believe Ms. Potts would be happy with anything you got her."
He groaned, "That doesn't help me. I want to get her something she'll like."
A pause, then, "Have you considered buying her shoes?"
He thought for a moment then shook his head, "I get her shoes all the time. This is our first birthday together. I gotta get her something special."
His eyes landed on the trophy she had made him. He had fixed it after the battle with Obadiah and it now set proudly on his desk. He smiled, then his eyes went wide, "That's it! She's gonna love this."
The next morning, Pepper woke up to the smell of….something. It smelled like it used to be food, but she wasn't entirely sure. Tony wasn't beside her, so that must have meant that he was attempting to cook again. She decided to go check on him before he burnt down the kitchen. Again.
"You're not supposed to be up yet," He frowned as she entered the kitchen.
"My pillow disappeared," She wrapped her arms around her arms around him from behind, "What are you doing?" She asked peeking over his shoulder.
"I was making us omelets, but I managed to burn them and we don't have any more eggs," He glared playfully at her sigh of relief, "So instead you can have Coco Puffs or Captain Crunch."
"You know how to spoil a girl don't you Mr. Stark?" She took the box of Coco Puffs, "So what's the occasion?"
He gaped at her for a minute, "Oh that's awesome! I remembered and you didn't! Jarvis, tell Ms. Potts what today is."
"Today is Sunday, October 14th Ms. Potts." Pepper smiled.
"My birthday. I've been so busy lately, I didn't even think about it!"
"Well, I did," Tony dropped a small silver wrapped package on the table in front of her, "And here is your present."
She opened up the small box and gasped. Inside was a small silver necklace with a mini arc reactor shaped like a heart. She stared at it for several seconds.
"Flip it over Pep," Tony said softly.
She looked up at him quickly before doing like he said. On the back there was a simple inscription. "My heart"
Her eyes filled with tears. Tony cleared his throat, "Does that mean you like it?"
She was kissing him before he fully realized what was happening. "I love it! I love you! Tony, it's beautiful. You made this yourself? It must have taken you forever."
He pulled her closer to him. Really it hadn't taken him that long at all to make, but he wasn't about to tell her that, "I love you Pepper. You're worth all that and more." He said brushing away the few tears that had fallen, "Happy Birthday Pep."
"Best Birthday ever." She said with a grin.
