Monday morning, an elegant eagle owl swept through the open window and landed before Hermione Granger, who peered at it over her copy of the Daily Prophet. "Hello," she greeted the unfamiliar messenger as it dropped an emerald green envelope and then swept back out the window with a hoot. Curious, Hermione tore the seal and read aloud. "You are cordially invited to celebrate the birthday of Draco Lucius Malfoy this Sunday. Please R.S.V.P. to-". Hermione stopped reading and laughed. She crumpled the letter and tossed it in the rubbish bin.
Tuesday, when Hermione awoke there were three green envelopes laying outside of her closed window. She looked to the sky at the stormy grey clouds, and left the invitations to their fate.
Wednesday, Hermione locked her front door behind her as she left the house and turned to find atleast a dozen owls lining her fence, all clutching green envelopes in their beaks. She unlocked her door and went back inside.
Thursday, Hermione answered the knock at her door hesitantly only to find the muggle post man delivering the new book she had ordered. Curling up in her favorite chair, she cracked the book only to find all 327 pages replaced with green envelopes.
Friday, Hermione and Harry chatted over afternoon tea when an ominous rumble interrupted their conversation. They both looked at the source of the sound, her empty fireplace. Without warning, a thousand green envelopes came flooding out like a waterfall. Harry had the strangest look on his face as if he were somewhat surprised but had seen worse. Hermione asked if she could sleep on his couch for the night.
Saturday, Hermione woke at dawn to a tapping sound. Still drowsy, she crossed Harry's living room and opened his door. A single owl flew in, carrying a single red envelope. She backed away as the letter smoked, and then Draco's voice filled the room. "CORDIALLY INVITED, GRANGER! YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED! WHY HAVE YOU NOT YET SENT YOUR R.S.V.P. GRANGER? ARE YOU NOT RECEIVING MY INVITATIONS? DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT CORDIALLY INVITED MEANS? THERE WILL BE CAKE, DAMMIT!"
Sunday, Hermione arrived on the lawn of Malfoy Manor wearing her nicest party dress. "Granger," Draco greeted casually when he spotted her, "fancy seeing you here, so good of you to come." Hermione smiled. "Happy birthday, Draco," she said in a sugary voice as she handed him a package wrapped in green ribbons.
