Unconscious Minds
Chapter 1.
It should be noted, for convenience, Alec and Jane will be 18 in this story. They will have still been burned, but at the age of 18 instead.
Alec surveyed the remains of the Volturis' latest 'Cover up' mission.
Some idiot vampire, probably newborn, had slaughtered someone in the middle of the small village, revealing vampires to every single resident.
Luckily, Alec had been hunting and had informed Aro immediately, as he had been in the woods nearby the small town.
He sighed, the vampire had bitten someone which they were now trying to deal with.
The girl was now in front of them, transforming.
Jane had tried to use her gift, but as the human was already in so much pain, Jane's gift failed to have any effect, as the girls current pain was no illusion, and therefore over rode any thing Jane's gift could do.
He looked at the girl.
He supposed she was pretty, but then caught himself.
For centuries he had refused to bond to anyone romantically, and so had Jane.
They had agreed in their 3rd century as vampires, to only love each other and the Volturi, no body else .
But Alec had been getting just so lonely, and been spending his time in the libraries . Jane teased him for it, but he defended it. He loved learning and reading, and it pleased Aro, as he loved the twins spending their time where he could watch them.
Alec summoned his mist and sent it toward the girl, who stopped writhing as it swam to surround her, slowly, and blanketed her.
She gasped, as she became still.
The mist did it's work, he could sense it. It's power had cut off her pain, but allowed her to talk, and use her other senses except the pain.
"Brother? What are you doing?" his sisters bored voice chimed from beside him, drawing him from.his thoughts.
"I tire of her suffering. Don't you ever wish to bond with someone? On a deeper level?" he asked.
Jane's eyes filled with rage.
"You promised me. You promised me you wouldn't fall for anyone" she said, and Alec silently thanked whatever deity had been watching over vampires since the beginning of time for the fact that Jane would never use her gift against her brother, especially as Alec would be forced to counter it with his own much more powerful gift.
"I did. I remember. But...maybe it's time we allowed ourselves to move on. " he said.
She scowled, and even without her gift , he felt her furious red eyes shine with rage.
"Fine. But if your...your...mate...disappoints you, don't come crying to me " she snarled, and turned to walk away.
Alec sighed and picked the other female ,the soon to be vampire, up and began running after his sister, holding tightly to his possible mate.
He hoped Aro understood.
