CHAPTER ONE

This a rewrite of the whole story. After reading the reviews left over the years, I wanted to give clarification and try a whack at it once more. Now I'm aware, my stories are already a little wrong on the characters personalties, but I try my best. I appreciate all the constructive cricism from everyone and I hope to hear more so we can make this an even better story! Thank you so much!

She watched as the shadows began to dance along her walls. The sun was beginning to set making her room come alive. She didn't feel that way. She wanted to give up. She had never felt this way before but now it was all she felt. Tears began running once again.

There was a quiet knock on the door. "Usagi?"

She ignored the knock. Hugging her pillow closer, she hid her face as her bedroom door slowly creaked open.

"Usako.." Usagi felt herself tense up. He wasn't supposed to be here. She couldn't speak to him. Not now. "Usako, I wanted to see how you were feeling.. Your mom said you insisted on no visitors, but I had to come by."

He sighed as she didn't acknowledge him. "I brought you some food. Well, chocolate cake because I know how much you love it." His voice drifted off.

Usagi hadn't spoke to Mamoru in a couple weeks. After his return home she was ecstatic, but as more time passed she felt herself falling into a slump she had never felt before. Her heart was broken. Unsure of what to say, she only stayed silent.

"I just wanted to let you know no matter what I'm here. I won't leave you again if that's what this cold shoulder is about." He took a deep breath, "I'm sorry. I know how lonely it must have felt without Chibi-usa or I. It must have been hard being that strong for that long..."

Usagi loosened her grip on the pillow. "Cold shoulder?" Her words were shaky. "Mamo-chan, I-" she didn't know what to say. She was at a loss. She felt him lay down on the edge of the bed beside her. His arms wrapped around her as he pulled her closer.

"Usako." Usagi burst into tears like she had done for a million times before that.

They lay together for what felt like an eternity. Not speaking, just him holding her as she cried. "Mamo-chan... I'm sorry."

"It's okay." He assured her.

She frantically jumped up and began yelling. "How can you say that? It's not okay. You should hate me Mamo-chan." Usagi fell back onto the bed clenching her fists. "Why don't you hate me?"

Mamoru stared at her in disbelief. Did she really hate herself this much? "I don't think I ever could. I love you. No matter what, I love you."

"How much?"

He didn't hesitate to answer, "I will always. You'll always be mine. That ring was a promise of that. One I do not intend to break." He looked at her hand checking if the ring was there. "I see you're still wearing it. Do you feel the same?"

She hid her face. "Mamo-chan..." She wasn't sure how to say it. "I've done something.."

Mamoru gently held her hands. "I know, Usako."

She turned and looked at him, shocked. "What do you mean?"

"Usako, I know you. When you're not yourself, part of me is not myself either. I love you." He kissed her forehead and began to whisper, "Your parents called me over and explained things."

Thank you so much for reading the first chapter! Please leave a review and let me hear your thoughts! :D
