Jackson is my original character, but I don't own CSI.

Dead Rails was a great episode, but I had a hard time writing a story around it. But my mind kept going back to the scene at the end, when Morgan and Hodges played pool. I wondered how they might teach Jackson to play. So here's what I came up with. No real spoilers! Enjoy and please review!

Morgan laughed when Hodges shot the balls across the table. "You hang out at clubs?"

"I have my secrets," he said with a sly smile.

Greg and Jackson came in and Jackson smiled when he saw the pool table. "Whoa!"

"What is it about guys and pool tables?" Morgan asked with a soft laugh.

Jackson smiled in fascination. "This ours?"

"No, sweet pea," Morgan said. "We had it for a case."

"You ever play?" Hodges asked.

"Nope," Jackson said.

Hodges pulled Jackson over and helped him hold the cue stick. "Whoa," Jackson said softly. "This heavy!"

"Careful," Morgan said.

"Here," Hodges whispered. "Line it up like this."

Jackson watched as Hodges pulled the stick back and hit the cue ball. His eyes widened and he smiled as two balls went into the holes. "Wow!"

"Cool, huh?" Hodges asked with a smile.

"Yeah!" Jackson said. "All the balls go in the holes?"

"They're supposed to," Morgan said with a smile.

Greg loved the smile on Jackson's face. "Tell you what, Jacks...finish up the game and then we'll take Uncle Hodges to lunch."

"Yeah!" Jackson said. He smiled up at Hodges. "You like grilled cheese sammiches?"

"Sure," Hodges said with a soft laugh. As much as he never pictured himself with kids, Hodges did enjoy hanging out with Jackson.

They missed the next shot, and Morgan rubbed chalk on her cue stick. "Think I can make this shot?"

"Yes!" Jackson happily said. Sure enough, Morgan hit the ball into the hole. "Good job, mama!"

"Thanks, sweet pea."

They played and Hodges let Jackson help him. They cheered when they won the game. Morgan loved the smile on Jackson's face. "Mama! Daddy! Did you see that? We won!"

"Yeah," Greg said. Morgan said, "Good job, sweet pea!"

Hodges smiled. "Very good job," he told Jackson as the little boy gave him a high five.

Jackson smiled. "You did good, Uncle Hodges! An' you too, mama!"

"Thank you," Hodges and Morgan said.

"An' thank you for helping me hold the big stick," Jackson told Hodges. "That was heavy!"

Hodges laughed softly. "You're welcome, and you did good, too."

"Thank you," Jackson said with a wide smile. "An' now we can have lunch!"

Everyone smiled as Jackson took Hodges' hand and they went to lunch.

The End.
