That Red Umbrella

It was raining. She was standing on a shed infront of the cake store. 'What luck' she sighed at the thought. Haru Miura wasn't lucky today. She found herself standing infront of the cake store and it was raining. "Why does it have to rain today? It's all the weatherman's fault for saying it'll be sunny today." Yeah, blame it all on the weatherman.

Haru sighed for the umpteen time. The only thing she could hear were the splashes of rain on the pavement as it flows to wherever they will go.

"Might as well go along with it." With that said she opened her red umbrella. It was a gift from her beloved. Good thing she brought it just in case.

She walked through the rain. Then, she noticed. That boy. The boy was running through the rain without any umbrella. She tried to call him though it seems he didn't noticed her. They were supposed to be together. But now it seems they're so distant. She remembered back then when the last time they were together.

It rained. She forgot her umbrella but she was waiting for someone. Then, there was a person who ran up to her, panting. It was a guy she knew very well. He smiled at her and offered her to come along with him with his blue umbrella. She smiled. She tagged along to the boy. As they walked through the rain, they talked on various things just to entertain each other. After that, the boy sighed. His breath shaking, shivering. When she looked at him, he just smiled at her but she knew it was forced.

She knew because they were together as lovers but that ended because of a certain someone. They've been together for months but after that, she wondered… 'How can they live so well separately?' It was the same back then. He will always come to pick her up wherever she was with his tired smile and those cute brown-eyes of his. But all that was fading as days passed by.

She thought that maybe those feelings he showed in a rainy day like this might as well disappear inside of him. And of course, Haru wasn't an exception.

Now, she walks home alone and remembers back then, he was always beside her but now he's not. She glanced at the water flowing away like a stream on the street. 'Just like my feelings' she sighed again. She wouldn't lie that she has gotten over her love for him. It was, as one would say, inevitable. She got home and changed in to her dry clothes and ate dinner. With that done, she went to bed, closed her eyes and started to think things.

It all changed when the time she went to his house and to greet him but instead she saw him ran when he saw that other girl. His back going farther away from where she was standing. The time when they watched the fireworks at the summer festival and when they looked up the summer night sky was all an illusion. An illusion that their hearts made. He may have forgotten those times but not her. But as the rain falls and the time flows, so will her heart.

That's why she decided to believe in herself and maybe tomorrow she'll have a bright, sunny day that she doesn't have to bring that red umbrella. A shining day. And so will her heart.

A/N: Got struck with inspiration through this never-ending rain in my home. :D
