for MinionsoftheNachoArmyUnite's "Pairing Names" challenge. My pairing name was "Big Red" and I interpreted it to be Ron/Hagrid. I know it's so weird but you should read it anyway (:

It's wrong, and he knows that, it's so wrong, but sometimes his mind fills with flashes of red hair and scatterings of freckles and heavy blushes and toothy grins. He tries to stop it because it's wrong, and it's unnatural, and he knew him when he was a kid.
But he can't help it, and he doesn't know why or when it happened, but somewhere along the way, he started looking at him less as Ron,Harry'sbestfriend and more RonWeasley,ohsweetMerlin. And it's funny because he's always loved Hermione, but sometimes, when she giggles and kisses Ron's cheek, he feels like his heart is tightening and he just wants to ask her to leave, and maybe even Harry too, so he can just be alone with Ron, even though nothing will evereverever happen between them. Because maybe it's enough just to take in his red hair or watch how he waves his hands wildly as he talks.
Because even though it's wrong (so, so wrong), Ron is beautiful, and Hermione's not the only one who can see that.
Hagrid can see it too, and he almost doesn't care if it's wrong because Ron's the most beautiful person he's ever seen.
(Except for Dumbledore, of course, but then again, nobody can compare to Dumbledore, and if Ron can come close, then doesn't that mean something?)
There are a thousand reasons why these feelings are wrong, but Hagrid takes comfort in the fact that Dumbledore used to say that love was never wrong (and if Dumbledore said that, it has to be true, Hagrid is as sure of this as he is anything).
Ron will always just be a fantasy hidden under a mask of friendship, Hagrid knows this, but he thinks it could be enough.
And then Ron looks at him, and grins, and Hagrid smiles. It's enough.
