I sat on the window seat in my room staring at the gray London sky as it started to drizzle. Wammy's house why was I still here? I could of left two years ago . . . Yet here I still am. All my friends have already left. I suppose helping to take care of the smaller children is my main excuse. But truthfully i just don't want to leave if there is even a small chance that HE would come back. Near my best friend and the one I'd loved since the first time we met. Who'd have thought the loudest and the quietest ones at wammy's would get along. He could always calm my down and I could always get him to talk. But L died and Kira took my Near away he'd left three months ago and I haven't heard a word since. I knocked my head against the window as the lunch bell tolled. I started to get up when I saw a black car pull up the drive. "Who could that be?" I wondered out loud as I leaned closer trying to see who was getting out then my pillow slipped and I fell off the seat backwards. "dang it!" I muttered in frustration and got up heading to lunch. I bit my lip not allowing myself to hope it was near I'd learned that lesson before. I went into the cafeteria and grabbed an orange soda and a salad. I smiled as I sat down next to my favorite little one his name was Nat and he was just like a little near. I sighed as I opened my soda.

"Alex Simons please report to Rodger's office." I rolled my eyes glaring up at the intercom. Leaving my salad I walked down to Rodgers office. "This better be good! you inter-" I froze mid-sentence as I saw who else was in there.

"Near!" I yelled as I ran over and hugged him. "You're alive!" I smiled happily then glared "why didn't you call me heck you could have written for all I care" He started to fidget under my stare.

"I'm sorry Alex, Kira could have traced the call. I would of if I could of promise." He said giving me his signature please forgive me pout. But before I could reply Rodger broke in clearing his throat.

"Speaking of kira that's why you were called here Alex. They've come to a stalemate in the case and near has asked for your help. The choice is yours you have till tomorrow to decide." He stated and kicked us out.

"You want me to help you?" I asked kind of shocked. "of course your my best friend and almost as intelligent as me." he stated laughing at my glare because of the intelligent part. Near stopped laughing and became nervous "You are coming right?" I stayed quiet for a good minute just to mess with him. His worried face was just too cute. "Silly why wouldn't I?"
"I don't know why didn't you leave before?"
I smirked and stuck my tongue out. "I have my reasons"
"and they would be?" he asked tilting his head to the right.

"oh wouldn't you like to know" I giggled skipping ahead.

"Alex your still such a child."
"Ah, but not the one that still plays with dolls. Now am I?"
"They aren't dolls they're action figures!" I smiled and tackled him to the ground.

"I really missed you near" I muttered trying to hide my blush.

"I missed you too."
