Bobby stood behind Sam as they watched Dean beat the Impala with the tire iron, watching as the youngest Winchester winced and nearly cried out with every hit as if he were feeling the stings. Sam turned and Bobby was met with watery mossy eyes, unsure of how to deal with Dean. Awkwardly, Bobby brought Sam into his embrace and hid his face from his brother's actions.
'You always were the most independent Winchester, Sam. Not as consumed by loss as you could be.' Bobby thought as he watched as, like his father, Dean lost himself in the angst and hurt of a loved one's death and ignored the family who was right there all along.
