I'm Here Now.

Half – asleep Ken Ichijuoji wandered home at eight – thirty after spending most of the day with his friends. Unfortunately, being tired he didn't see the car coming. Suddenly half awake he felt a very large blow smash into him and was knocked about five feet away with such intensity that his shoe flew off.

"H-Hey!" someone ran up. "Are you still alive? I'm calling an ambulance!"

"So… Ken said softly. "This is what it felt like…uhm… is this it? What's going to happen to me? If this is it… I want to be with onii-chan…"

"Don't be afraid." A very familiar voice said.

"S-Sam?!" said ken failing to hold back tears.

"It's okay." Said Sam in hushed tones sitting down and cradling him.

"Sam, I'm sorry. I want to be with you.

"You will be with me." Sam said soothingly lifting Ken up a little more and holding him. "And don't be sorry. It's not your fault. None of it was."

"But if I hadn't been so hateful and jealous and envious and spiteful you'd still be alive and none of this would have happened. I failed you as a brother and as a friend."

"No you didn't," said Sam nuzzling his hair. "I could've made more of an effort to get mom and dad to notice you and I could've explained things to you sooner."

"I could've asked sooner." Said ken.

"That wasn't your fault." Said Sam. "You didn't know if it would be okay to ask because you didn't want me to be mad at you. And it's hard to get up enough courage to ask for any kid. And you didn't fail me as a brother and friend. Even during your 'jealous years' you weren't jealous all the time and you could always make me smile, even laugh. Remember when we ordered all that food at 2 in the morning?"

Ken smiled. "How could I forget that?" ken laughed at the memory.

"Yeah, there you go." said Sam, smiling. "That's the Kenny-Boy I know. And remember Disaster Night when mom and dad left us at the the apartment by ourselves for part of the evening?"

Ken laughed. "I don't think I could ever forget that. You didn't think to turn that water thing on the sink off or check to see if ther was any soap in the washing machine!" he laughed again.

"Yeah yeah yeah, my bad." Said Sam although he had to laugh at the memory too and Ken smiled again.

"Oh yeah and about that time with digivice ," said Sam. "I'm sorry I hit you. I also overreacted. I really was concerned about you. I didn't know what that thing was and I didn't know if it could possibly hurt you. I should've let you know back then, even though I knew you were jealous you were my only and best friend."

"Wow." Said Ken. "I was right. You were my best and only friend too. You still are my best friend too." Ken said blushing furiously.

Sam smiled both at the compliments and Ken's blushing furiously although Ken couldn't help but smile too. Sam grinned playfully. "What is it really that embarrassing?" Sam asked poking Ken's sides without warning, causing Ken to almost jump out of Sam's arms and make a sound that sounded lika mix of a squeak and a giggle.

"That was a totally unfair cheap shot." Said Ken giving Sam The Miffed Cat Look as he laughed at Ken's reaction but failing to suppress a giggle. "Shouldn't there be some rule somewhere about fairness?"

Sam laughed. "Well if there is you know it doesen't apply to tickling." He said poking Ken and making him giggle again.

"Oh, of course it doesen't." said Ken continuing to give Sam The Miffed Cat Look but failed to suppress a smile as Sam chuckled at it.

"I feel kind of tied." Said Ken.

Sam smiled at him."Go ahead and sleep. I'm here now."

Ken rested his head on his Brother's chest as he stroked his hair, smiling as he went to sleep for once.
