Charging through the streets of Ba Sing Se on the day of Sozin's Comet, Iroh slashed down every opponent who got in his way, trusting that the rest of his White Lotus army was doing the same, until he stood before the huge banner on the Earth Kingdom's palace.
He felt a certain accomplishment and exhilaration as the fire flowed from his fingertips to lick at the hated sign of the invaders.
Somewhere in the city behind him, people cheered at the sight of the smoke.
Happy birthday to me, Iroh thought to himself triumphantly, and wondered how his nephew fared with the Waterbender girl.
So I took a challenge (#2 of four, Happy Birthday) offered by Masako Moonshade on her home page. The terms of the challenge were these: write about a canon character's birthday, no slash, no lemon, in under 115 words, excluding title and notes. If it was supposed to be *at* a birthday party, I'm sorry I failed that requirement, but I'm happy with this anyway. The last line...yeah, I'm a total Zutara shipper, and I have been since day one, literally.
Go check Masako Moonshade out, she's a good writer, and the challenges are pretty fun.
