Ayase couldn't remember a time when he'd had more fun.
Although to be fair, he was having trouble remembering anything right now. He could distinctly recall Domon turning out to have quite a voice when he started serenading them, so he had done the only logical thing and cheered him on to sing more. Everything after that was one big, beautiful blur. Playing with the dog, the laughter of his friends... there had even been a moment or two that he'd forgotten that he was dying. And he had Domon to thank for that.
No, really, it was true. He would've been content with watching his friends finally let go of their troubles and play, but Domon wouldn't let him, dragging him by the hand to join them after they found the paint. He just couldn't believe it took... what had they been doing this morning? Oh, well. It didn't matter. He finally realized what an amazing guy Domon was. And maybe...
"Domon... hey, buddy, wake up." The others had been napping, but he had a vague feeling making its way though his happy haze that this needed to be said, now. "I wanted to thank you for today. I can't tell you why it meant so much to me, but it did. And... I could be wrong, but I think I've fallen in love with you."
It took him a minute to realize he had been confessing his feelings to the face Domon had painted on his torso. It took him a little longer to realize Domon was still dozing.
Ayase curled into him, closing his eyes. Maybe it could wait until they woke up.

Sion had seen a lot of things during his tenure as a Timeranger, but there was no way he could have ever been prepared ever to see a fast asleep Ayase snuggled up to a half-naked, equally asleep Domon.
"I'm pretty sure I don't want to know how this happened."
