It was the closest thing to a normal day that three cyborgs could ask for.
Chang had asked Francoise to run a few errands for him-- order some supplies, pick up groceries, things like that. Because of the light workload and the fact that it was a beautiful day, she decided to bring Ivan along for some fresh air. Joe had asked to tag along at the last minute, offering his help if she needed it. She had been surprised that he (or anyone) would want to join her in the everyday errands, but not upset. Far from it, actually.
So here they were, her with Ivan in her arms, Joe loaded down with grocery bags, both of them smiling for no real reason... no, that was wrong. She knew why she was smiling, and she hoped he was for the same reason--
... couple over there...
Francoise blinked. In order to stay sane, she had trained herself to block out most of the sounds she picked up as background noise, but she was almost positive that someone was talking about them. She glanced and saw an elderly woman in the middle of a very animated conversation with another woman who appeared to be the same age. Her curiosity getting the better of her, Francoise focused on the women. Now, what had she said again...?
Yes, that couple over there. Aren't they absolutely adorable? They remind me of Hiro and myself when we were their age.
Every couple reminds you of Hiro and yourself when you two were their age. Francoise could hear the annoyance in the other woman's tone, and it took everything she had in her not to giggle.
But still, who was she to deny the woman a happy couple if she wanted one?
Feeling unusually mischievous, Francoise let her head rest against Joe's shoulder. "So where to next, darling?" She batted her eyelashes for emphasis.
Joe smiled at her again, but there was a definitely nervous edge to it. His face being bright red only made it more obvious. "Francoise, have you gone completely crazy?"
Look, look! I used to do the same thing to Hiro!
... Okay, maybe they do bear a resemblance to you two. Maybe.
She felt herself smile once more as well. "Only crazy in love, honey."
