Yellow Butterfly
Mommy? It's me. Can you hear me? Can you see me? I see you.
Mommy, I see you. Why are you crying Mommy? Please don't be sad. I'm okay. I promise!
It's really pretty here Mommy. There's a river, just like the one you used to take me to. I don't go too close though. I remember to be careful.
There are daffodils here Mommy. You always loved daffodils. And butterflies. Lots of them! They like to fly all around you and land on your nose. It tickles!
There are angels here Mommy. I remember the angel you used to help me put way at the top of the christmas tree! The angels here are more pretty than that Mommy!
They take good care of me. Yesterday one of the angels put a pretty daffodil in my hair. It was for you Mommy.
But Mommy? Why are you sad? How come you cry? How come Daddy yells at you? Is it 'cause of me? Mommy, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to fall.
I was supposed to listen Mommy. You told me to stay away from the river. You said it wasn't safe. But Mommy, I'm sorry I went to it. I just wanted to see it. It's so pretty. But I slipped.
I'm sorry Mommy. Please tell Daddy I'm sorry. It wasn't your fault. I didn't listen. Mommy you tried to save me. I couldn't reach.
Mommy, I was scared. The water went over my head. I couldn't breathe Mommy. I tried to yell, but Mommy the water went in my mouth. It went dark Mommy. Like my room at night when I don't have my nightlight on. I don't like the dark. Mommy? I was so scared. I wanted you to give me a hug and kiss and make it all better. But Mommy, I couldn't reach.
Mommy? Why do you always cry? Why are you sad? I see you go to the river lots. But Mommy, you are never happy. Mommy why does Daddy always yell at you? How come he won't talk to you anymore? Is he mad?
Mommy, why do you drink that stuff when people talk about me? Mommy it makes you sick and you go to sleep.
Mommy? How come you hurt yourself? Why do you make your arm bleed? Mommy? Why? Please stop! Mommy your scaring me!
Mommy I saw the crash. You drove your car into the lake. Mommy why did you do it? You had to sleep for a long time. I came to see you when you were sleeping. I know you could see me. You looked so sad. Mommy? Do I make you sad?
Mommy, I heard you tell the doctor your heart hurt 'cause you missed me. He told you to forget me. Mommy, please don't. I haven't forgot you. He gave you so many scary pills! Mommy, I'm sorry I made you sick.
Mommy please stop hurting yourself. An angel told me it was because you want to see me. Mommy, it's not your time. That's what the angel said. But Mommy? I promise I will wait here until it is your time. You don't have to hurry. I'm okay, the angels are nice to me.
Mommy, I know your scared of the river. I know it makes you sad 'cause it took me away. Mommy, its okay. If you are sad or scared Mommy, look for the yellow butterfly. She's pretty. I see her lots. She will fly all around you and land on your nose! Careful, it tickles!
Mommy, when you see the yellow butterfly, be happy. I will be there with you. You will see me Mommy! You won't have to be sad anymore.
Mommy, I have to go now. The angels need me.
Mommy, I'm sorry I didn't listen, but one day I will see you. I'll be there with the little yellow butterfly and we can be happy again.
