Summary: What if Carver and Bethany's deaths were preventable...

"-only five days, not bad, eh?" Varric asked as he looked at Hawke. The quartet had just reached their destination.

"Think we could...take a break? I feel wrong." Carver asked feverishly as he was about to fall down. His older sister, along with Merril, Varric, and Aveline looked at him with worry. His sister answered him. "Let's make camp if you're sick." She said. Varric scoffed in humor. "I'll wager was those deep mushrooms we've found."

All of a sudden, Carver fell onto his knees. Hawke froze as he did so.

"No, it's-" He said as he fell onto the cold hard ground.

"Carver!" His sister screamed as she rushed to his side. She looked at him with utmost worry as Carver sat up a little and continued.

"-it's the blight, isn't it? Just like that templar, Westley." Carver's pupil's grew to horror. "I'll be just as dead. Just as gone." He finished.

"There must be some other way!" His sister said frantically.

"There is." A voice called out from behind them. Hawke guarded Carver as her friends drew their weapons.

"Anders, what are you doing here?" Hawke asked him. Her companions slowly put their weapons away, giving Anders confused looks. He shook his head as he looked at Carver.

"I knew there would be trouble. Here." He walked calmly over to Carver and squatted next to him. Carver gave him a weird look.

"W-what-" He coughed. Anders took off his small pack and began rummaging through it.

"Anders, what are you doing?" Hawke asked. All questions were answered as Anders pulled out a small object wrapped in flashy paper.

"Here." Anders said as he looked at a now sickly, gray Carver. The younger man looked at Anders with pain filled eyes.

"Huh?" He managed to choke out. Anders unwrapped the flashy paper and it revealed a brown bar. He handed it to Carver. Carver, trusting Anders (well, it was either that or die), sniffed at it.

"Eat." Anders coaxed, and Carver did. Small bites at first, but then soon he devoured the whole thing.

"Dude," Anders said after Carver ate the whole thing. "you're not you when you're hungry. Better?" Anders asked. Carver, now tan healthy looking, nodded.

"Yeah." He replied.

Hawke and Merril sighed with relief as Carver stood up. Merril hugged him. Varric snickered.

"I see who's getting with who ton-" He didn't finish as Aveline smacked him upside the head.

"Don't ruin it." She sighed as Varric continued snickering.

"Okay."

…...Part Two...

"DUDE! HOLD UP!" Hawke yelled at the ogre as it held Bethany. It snarled as it looked at Hawke. Hawke took a tiny step towards it.

"I know you're angry, but here." Hawke said as he threw a large fancily wrapped package at the ogre. It looked at from Bethany to the package. To Hawke's relief, the ogre dropped Bethany and it's interest was focused solely on the object which Hawke threw. Bethany ran over to her older brother and stood beside him, shaking a little.

"What in the maker? Hurry! The darkspawn are coming!" Their brother shouted. Hawke put up a hand. "Wait." He said and Carver rolled his eyes.

The ogre, finding the wrapped package smelling awesome, ate the whole thing.

"Dude! You're not you when you're hungry! Feeling better?" Hawke asked the ogre. The ogre, remaining tall in size, now had the face of Sten.

"Yes." He answered. "Now I must follow the qun and we will do a love dance ritual on my arrival." Sten...ogre-Sten announced as he stomped off into the sunset, leaving way too many people confused.

Notes: I was bored and this came to mind. So if anybody's feeling angsty if their Hawke character's brother or sister died, imagine this XD
