One year before the Battle of Hogwarts took place; Luna was sitting on a rock in the forbidden forest. Hogwarts had gone downhill. After Headmaster Dumbledore died, Severus Snape took over and that's when Hogwarts basically turned into a prison camp. Hogwarts was no longer filled with laughter and happy busy children, but scared students and strict professors. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had gone out on some mission that Dumbledore had told them about in order to save the wizarding world from Voldemort. Ginny had confided in Luna that she was angry that they hadn't told her what they were doing or why, but Luna trusted Harry very much and understood him. The rock was on the very edge of the water, but the rock was tall enough that Luna's feet just barely skimmed the water whenever she moved them.

She hummed softly to herself a lullaby that her mother used to sing to her as she started to make a necklace out of butter beer caps.

Six or seven minutes passed before she said, "Hello Draco," without even looking up from what she was doing.

The blonde wizard slowly moved up to where she was sitting and sat on the rock besides her. "How did you know it was me?" He asked her, his British accent thick.

"I can tell by your footsteps. I have spent enough time at Hogwarts to know everybody by what sound their feet make when they walk." Luna told him. "Your friends, Crabbe and Goyle, for instants, their feet are very heavy and make louder sounds than yours."

He didn't reply, he just sat there staring at the water, watching his own reflection with Luna's. She noticed this. "I could also see your reflection."

"How are you?" Draco asked her, as he watched the witch make her necklace.

"Majestic." She replied simply.

"And your father?"

"Oh he is good! He is planning a trip to Spain this summer, for him and I. After the war is over, we're gonna go there in search of the Crumple Horn Snorkack."

"How do you know….it will be…?" He began but Luna cut him off.

"Daddy has been tracking the crumple horn Snorkack for months, we will find it."

"I actually meant…How do you know the war will be over?"

"I have faith in Harry. I have faith in Hogwarts and all the students and professors in there too." Luna told him smiling.

She hummed a little faster, which to his surprise, made Draco feel all hot and sweaty inside. He felt his stomach drop and his head began to spin, as if he was going to faint.

She finished her butter beer caps necklace and tucked it into her satchel. She crisscrossed her legs on the rock and turned around so she was facing Draco. "I have faith in you, Draco."

It took him a moment to figure out what she was talking about. Damn it, thought Draco. Why is she always able to read my mind? This isn't the first time…

Draco and Luna had been meeting up for the past six months in secret. Every time, Luna would say: You don't have to Draco. You don't have to follow in your parents footsteps.

"You don't have to be like Voldemort." Luna said plainly. Draco admired her courage of saying his name. "You don't have to be like him, your parents or the other death eaters. You can be who you want to be."

Draco smiled at Luna. "I know. Trust me—you have reassured me."

This was true. And every single time Luna told him this, it put a little more faith into Draco.
