"KOROMARU, USE AGI!"

Ken pulled his SEES band up his arm in preparation for the battle to show that he meant business. He twirled his lance in anticipation, hoping the move would connect.

THE ENEMY IS WEAK TO FIRE! BULBASAUR HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!

"Alright, one more! Koromaru, use Agi!"

Bulbasaur was unable to defend itself because it was vulnerable, so it was hit once more and became dizzy.

A bead of sweat trickled down Ash Ketchum's forehead and across his cheek. There was no hope for Bulbasaur against such an opponent.

"Bulbasaur, return! Go, Squirtle!" Ash knew enough about Pokemon that any fire-type should be weak to water. His next attack should be super effective. He launched the Pokeball containing Squirtle as if it were a baseball, and turned his hat around because he, too, was very serious about this battle.

"USE WATER GUN!" he shouted, just as Misty ran up behind him and began to scream: Noooo!

Ash turned around as the attack went on, doing less than favorable damage against the opponent.

"That's not a normal Pokemon, Ash! It's not weak to Water or Ice! You can tell because it isn't red and on fire," she explained with the kind of expertise only a Water Pokemon trainer could provide.

Ash, devastated, watched on as the enemy prepared for a counterattack.

"Koromaru, good! Now use Mudoon! Let's see if we can finish it off," Ken said, smirking.

Koromaru summoned his Dogsona, and with a howl unleashed a whirling void upon Squirtle. The attack failed to connect, and nothing happened.

The battle continued for some time... a very, very long time, actually.

"I guess I should concede defeat," Ash admitted reluctantly many turns later. "My Squirtle is out of usable moves. I can't attack your Pokemon any longer."

Ken was shocked. "No way!" he exclaimed. "Koromaru just ran out of SP!"

Both trainers exchanged glances.

"Does that mean...?" Ash ventured.

"Yep! We wore each other out!" Ken finished.

They both smiled. This meant that they were both great trainers, and neither was better than the other! This was good because their beautiful friendship could be forever ruined if one bested the other in a Pokemon match. Instead they both went out for Ramen at Hagakure and compared Pokedexes into the night.
