Silence hung over a dark room as Yellow Diamond sat in her chair in front of her many monitors, the glow from their screens being the only thing keeping the room from complete blackness as they illuminated Yellow's face and giving her just enough light to occasionally glance down at her Pearl who was stood stationary, ready for whenever an order would be given or if a direct emergency call was sent in. The occasion ring and buzz that indicated an incoming message disrupted the quietness of the room as Yellow carefully decided which ones needed her attention and which ones weren't worth her precious time and she knew damn well her time was limited. Work had become the only thing on Yellow's mind in the recent centuries, the only thing she was willing to give her attention to and the only thing she would talk about. Perhaps some would call this unhealthy but to Yellow it was bliss- she would rather have work on her mind than anything else, to use it to push away everything else she could be thinking of.

Yes, it seemed work was an option Yellow would come to view as a comfort rather than a burden, as it gave her an excuse to have solitude. Any other time was filled by Pink's furious and annoying attempts at getting her colony taken off of her hands even after she had begged for it only mere months ago, or dealing with White's fragile mental state, or doing some or the other that Yellow deemed as beneath her when work seemed so much more important. Blue had told her off for this countless times as Yellow was becoming more closed off by the day, but Yellow was only coping with things in her own way. She hated the unsure emotional field the other Diamonds were on, White getting worse by the day, Pink becoming angry and restless, and poor Blue trying to keep everything together while letting her duties in court slip away and leaving Yellow to pick up on the duties both she and Pink were now neglecting because of their emotions. Yellow could feel herself becoming more stressed the more she dwelled on it when suddenly her Pearl was calling up to her,

"My Diamond," she began, "Blue Diamond is attempting to make a direct call, shall I put her through?"

"Pearl, pass the communicator to me."

Yellow took the device from Pearl without waiting for her to put Blue through, only gesturing to Pearl for the leave the room. Pearl saluted and left immediately. Yellow waited for Pearl to leave before answering Blue as she knew an emergency call was usually a personal call when coming from Blue.

Yellow finally picked up the call and was greeted by a smiling Blue who was sat in what looked like the control room of her arm ship.

"Hello Yellow, how are you doing?" She asked, surprisingly chipper. Yellow was almost suspicious of her,

"I'm doing well," she answered, still keeping her focus on her screens, "and yourself?"

"I've been good thank you! I've be-"

"Why exactly did you call? You know I'm busy this time of day." Yellow continued to type out instructions on her monitors. Blue looked slightly offended by being cut off but she continued nonetheless.

"I'm calling to say I'm visiting your command room on behalf of Pink to discuss some matters to do with her colony. It only just occurred to me that I should call before I arrive, my ship will be boarding in approximately half an hour." Blue smiled once more and raised her hand to silence any protest from Yellow, "it's a quick visit, you can't possibly be too busy. I'll be there soon!" With that Blue hung up and left Yellow alone in the room once more. Yellow just groaned and shook her head, annoyed by Blues lack of concern for Yellow's time without even asking if Yellow was free. Though Yellow wouldn't admit it the task she was currently working on had become tedious so perhaps a change in her task would be welcomed.

Before Yellow even had a chance to think about why Pink couldn't come to Yellow on her own Blue had arrived, her Pearl ever present by her feet. Blue was radiant as always, her dark robes wrapping around her body in waves of navy silk, contrasted by her long pale blue hair that fell down to her waist and looked soft to the touch. Yellow was sure she was a mess in comparison as she hadn't left her control room in who knows how long in favour of taken care of her work over herself. Blue smiled when she came to Yellow who was still sat in her control chair and dismissed her Pearl to wait with Yellow's as they set to discuss the matters between them. "So," Yellow started, "what exactly did Pink ask you to do that she was too lazy to do on her own?"

"Oh, nothing, I just needed an excuse to come over." Blue sat down next to Yellow at her chair as Yellow flashed a look of confusion mixed with annoyance.

"Are you telling me you're just here to waste my time!?" Yellow restrained her voice from shouting at her fellow Diamond as Blue crossed her arms.

"Not for no reason, Yellow, but because I worry for you! You haven't left your control room for weeks now, I know you have work but-" Blue reached over to place her hand on Yellow's shoulder "-you need rest like any other Gem." Yellow was taken aback by the genuine emotion in Blues voice but she supposed she shouldn't be. Blue was and always had been a Gem to have her heart on her sleeve, and when her concern was for her fellow Diamonds she was always open about her feelings. Yellow signed and stood up, leaving Blue in the seat that had just about been big enough to comfortably fit both of them.

"Thank you for your concern Blue, but you needn't worry. I'm fine, I'm merely preoccupied by work." Yellow turned back to look at Blue who without any noice had managed to walk up behind Yellow with a dissatisfied expression on her usually calm face. Yellow had been about to say something but before she could react Yellow found herself lifted up off of the floor and over Blue's shoulder. "Blue!" Yellow protested, surprised by the sudden strength from the Gem who was normally so passive towards her. "What is the meaning of this!?" Yellow tried to struggle away but Blue only continued to ignore her and walked towards Yellow private chambers. Yellow room was scarcely decorated, a simple yellow colour palette with minimalistic furniture. A sofa, a desk, a bookshelf and a few lamps dotted around for good lighting. Blue finally dropped Yellow, who had given up on trying to struggle away, onto the large sofa.

"Yellow Diamond," she began, her voice suddenly strict, "you have had me worried sick with your insistence on working nonstop. I haven't heard from you in days! Pink has been carrying out her little tantrum over her colony and I've been left to deal with it on my own since you've gone to focus on work that doesn't even need immediate attention! You've even been taking my jobs, I didn't even ask you to! All I ask of you is to relax and stop fretting over these things. Please Yellow, just for me, can't you take some time off? I've missed you..." Blue trailed off as if she was unsure of how to go on after her outburst and Yellow was unsure if what to say. She hadn't realised Blue would of been so upset by her taking so much time to focus on work, but looking back on it she was right. Yellow hadn't taken any time to contact Blue in ages, nor Pink or White, though it was obvious Blue would be the most upset. There was once a time where they would talk every day, through video call and messages, and when they could they would visit each other without any hesitation. Yellow hadn't thought much of it but she did miss those times. She looked up at Blue who was still stood over her and noticed her eyes were watery. Blue sat down next to her with her hands flat on her lap and looked up to the ceiling away from Yellow. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to shout. I've just been so stressed, I worry for you, and for Pink. You need to relax if not for your sake then for mine. I'm so tired of worrying about you both in light of everything that has been happening lately, especially with White..." Blue looked towards Yellow as she lifted a hand to her eyes to block tears that threatened to fall. Moving towards Blue and wrapping an arm around her shoulder Yellow let Blue lean into her embrace. Yellow felt awful, knowing Blue's stress was partly Yellow's fault (though she would be sure to scold Pink for also being partially to blame...). Yellow wrapped her other arm around Blue and felt Blue relax into her chest. Without thinking Yellow also began to relax, the warmth radiating from Blue allowing Yellow to feel comfort that her control room had lacked.

"I'm sorry, Blue," Yellow whispered into her hair from where she was positioned in their embrace, "I wasn't aware of how much it was effecting you. I suppose you might of needed this more than I did." Blue laugh up at her,

"Oh Yellow, don't be so proud now. You know I'm here for you right now, and you're the one who initiated this. You know somewhere in the back of your mind you needed to relax." Blue sat up and wrapped her own arms around Yellow properly so that they were both sat up and leaning on each other equally. Yellow felt her head falling down onto Blue's shoulder and did nothing to stop herself from doing so. She didn't try to tell Blue again that she was suspicious that perhaps Blue has come to Yellow for herself as much as she had for her, but in this moment Yellow was suddenly overcome with the tiredness that she had been putting off ever since she had allowed herself to become completely consumed by her workload. Without either realising it they both fell into a much deserved sleep, still wrapped in each other's arms.
