Parasyte

Salvage the Heart

A/N: I just saw the twelfth episode, and it I hated the ending. Here's my version of how it should've ended…and on a positive note!

When Shinichi showed up, Kana thought it was going to end right there for her. Until she lost her footing due to tripping on a piece of rebar and falling to the ground. It was in that moment of fate-defiance that the Parasyte she encountered was unable to pierce her back and heart. Instead, his tentacle aimed for Shinichi's right arm, which deflected the blow and sent it to the ground away from them.

"Migi, handle defense," Shinichi told his right arm.

"Defense?" Migi questioned, but Shinichi had already charged towards the enemy Parasyte.

GRIP! He forced his left hand into the Parasyte's chest and ripped out its heart.

"No!" The Parasyte gasped, feeling its life fade. "How can this be?!"

Shinichi then threw the heart away and forced his arm back into the gaping hole of the Parasyte's chest…only to slam its body into the wall behind it, shattering the wall in the process.

The Parasyte was now dead.

-x-

After getting five blocks away from where the Parasyte had been disposed of, Shinichi had tied a piece of cloth around Kana's arm to stop the bleeding and showed her his right arm.

Kana listened to every word spoken and believed him. She believed him on how his own Parasyte had been unable to consume his brain and ended up eating his hand instead. How the Parasytes were starting to evolve and infiltrate the urban areas now and how one such Parasyte had recently become the mayor.

"What are you going to do about them?" She had asked him when he finished informing her about the Parasytes. "I mean, what are you going to do about them?"

And for once, Shinichi was at much of a loss on what to do about the Parasytes. If it became necessary, he would have to eliminate the Parasytes that fed off regular people instead of regular food if they continued to go after people he cared for…and because of their evolving behavior and encroaching of the urban areas, he needed to keep those close to him safe from the Parasytes.

"I'll kill them all," he told her. "The ones that continue to kill people just to survive. I'll kill them all if I have to."

"Be careful," she told him.

"You, too," he responded. "Come on, I'll walk you home."

To be…or not to be?

A/N: Now, I feel better about the episode. I just don't know if I should have this tie into the Maternal Survival story.
