Disclaimers: I own nothing – but merely play with it all. The basis of the quote used in this comes from an Episode of Touched by An Angel of all things… I just thought it was rather appropriate…
Josh turned away from the Whitehouse and was making his way back towards the OEOB.
He was just crossing the road when he heard his name being called. Turning back he saw the hulking form of… The Presidents new bodyman… what was his name? Josh couldn't quite remember…
"Mr Lyman." He called
Josh paused. Curtis? Was that his name?
"Yeah?"
The young man stopped in front of him, his breath icing up in the air between them. A folded piece of paper in his gloved hand.
"Mr Lyman. The President asked me to give you this…"
Josh took the preferred slip, thanked him and watched as he moved off once again.
Unfolding the paper, Josh read the words scrawled hastily in the President own hand.
Josh.
You stand at the brink, you're not sure what to do. I know, I have been there… What I said just now was true… You are the future… Don't you ever dare doubt it… Leo didn't, I don't…
Do you remember the story of Moses?
Moses led God's people for forty years before he made it to the promised-land and was then told he could not enter. But from high on the mountain top, before he died, he looked out and saw the promise from afar and he saw the promise fulfilled in a young man that God had chosen to succeed him.
The young man was named Joshua (which by the way means "God Saves") and he would lead the people into the future and into a beautiful new land.
I have been standing on the mountain top for some time now. I am looking out over the future and I know it's true… now do the country a favour - go and lead some people.
All the very best son.
JB
Josh swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. Refolding the paper, he pushed it deep in the pocket of his coat.
Turning his collar up against the cold Josh started the long solitary walk home.
The question was… Was he ready to lead?
