Dipper was scared out of his wits. He couldn't believe how horrific the scene he had woken to was. Mabel was dead. She lay sprawled across her bed; abdomen slashed open, eyes soaked in tears. The worst part, Dipper knew who had done it.
About a week ago, Mabel had begun having nightmares. Very disturbing ones involving her being ripped apart by what appeared to be a hairless dog or man who's fingers had very long scythe-like blades. She had remembered being scared of Freddy Krueger, but at least he made jokes.
This new creature was definitely not fond of laughs.
Four days ago, Mabel went to Gravity Falls' therapist. She told him all about the creature.
"Mabel, I understand you've been having vivid nightmares, and that you've cried yourself to sleep?" Doctor Adams asked. "Yes, doctor, multiple times," the brunette girl was lying on the couch in the room, staring worriedly up at the ceiling. "For what reason? From your brother's description of you, you shouldn't have any worries." "It's because I'm…I'm terrified of him coming back."
"Who, Mabel? Who's coming back?" the doctor asked.
"The Rake. I've seen him at the foot of my bed, talking to me, he won't leave me alone."
"How many times have you seen him?"
"More than I can count."
After days of Mabel's fear, she pushed her bed a bit closer to Dipper's, this way, she said, Dipper can help watch for the Rake. Dipper never let himself fall asleep before Mabel, so she felt safer. He never believed in the Rake, but now that Mabel's life was over, he could see it.
He could hear it.
It was perched on the attic's window sill, staring at him. Dipper didn't dare move. He wanted to scream for help, or get the menace to leave, but none of his plans that he spent minutes thinking of would result in failure, capture, by the beast. It wasn't human, Dipper was sure. It hunched with limbs long enough to grab him from the window. He appeared human, but his neck and head were that of a hairless dog. His eyes were cold, and appeared as black voids, staring into Dipper's soul. And every now and then, he swore that it spoke his name.
'The Rake', as Mabel called the abomination, was a fitting name, for its hand-blades. After several minutes of trying to think of a way to escape, the creature stepped down from the window sill, extending its fingers, blades now dripping crimson blood onto the floor. It took a step towards Dipper. The boy was sure that it was over, and as the beast closed in, Dipper prayed. After one minute, the tauntingly slow walk of this creature ended, and he was in front of Dipper. The Rake crouched to Dipper's height, raising its arm again. It grabbed the boy by the throat, raising him, and put a blade to his throat. As Dipper choked, it slashed, cutting his throat out. Dipper fell to the ground, coughing and choking on his own blood. As he lied on the ground, dying slowly, just as he closed his eyes…
…the Rake laughed.
