This is a one-sided Gray x Lyon fic. Don't like(my horrible plots and writing), don't read.
"Gray!" Lyon shouted. This time would be different. This time he would finally be able to say-
"Ice Bastard! What are you doing here?"
Just then, Lyon spotted a seething Juvia coming down at him.
"OW! But the panties…" He pretended to be enthralled by her strength, but in reality, his act of confessing love for her was all pretend. Pretend, so one day, he could tell Gray, personally and alone, how he was gay, gay and in love with him. But everyone would reject him, so he still professed his fake love to Juvia, still cried heartbroken at night. Because he was different.
It was during the battle, during the battle with the Hatchlings.
"Juvia! Watch out!" Gray screamed.
Bright, beautiful flashing lights were seen. Then, the beauty of them faded, and it was his turn to scream.
"GRAY!".
Earlier, Future Rogue had pulled him aside and growled something:
"Maybe in this timeline, like mine, you'll feel how I felt with Sting.."
Oh, now he realized. Rage boiled through his veins, but the real fuel was grief and regret. And so he didn't just stand there, like he did all those other times. He didn't just wait, wait for an perfect opportunity. He made one.
'I'm coming for you, Rogue.'
The only thing that everyone saw at that moment was mist. It was cold. Then it was white.
Lyon wanted to pretend that everyone from all the guilds were still wriggling under the frost of the battlefield. Maybe Sherry and Ren were still snogging. Maybe Sherria was still following him around. Maybe Natsu would give him a deserved beating for his failure of protecting Gray. Maybe Toby and Yuka was somewhere arguing about the importance of socks.
But only the faint illusion kept him from just falling. And so he didn't.
