Kol entered the Mikaelson's home, shedding his coat and tossing it on the sofa Elijah currently sat in. Without looking up from the novel that held his attention, Elijah grasped the jacket before it hit the fabric.

"Ah," Kol smirked. "Brother."

Elijah frowned. "Kol…" He replied.

Kol comfortably situated himself beside his elder brother, taking the novel out of his hands and threw it across the linoleum. Elijah raised his eyebrows, staring intently.

"A little birdie told me you had feelings for the doppelganger," Kol smirked.

"And who was this…" Elijah crossed his arms. "Little birdie."

"Rebekah." Kol replied, suddenly.

"As long as it's coming from a reliable source…" Elijah rolled his eyes, heading towards the book that was now sprawled along the floor.

"Oh come on, brother…" Kol laughed. "Everyone can see it. Even Elena herself."

Elijah paused, his body tensing and his eyes narrowed before he retrieved the book and sat in the same place he had before. "And what makes you say that?" His tone was nonchalant, but his insides twisted.

"…Rebekah." Kol answered again.

"And you believe her?" Elijah snickered.

"That's why I wanted to ask you," Kol replied. "You know, just to make sure. I am quite interested."

"You're interested in everything, but…" He paused, flipping through the pages. "Since you are my brother I will confirm that I do have…slight feelings for Miss Elena Gilbert."

Kol was silent, watching as Elijah stared at the lines against the book's tattered pages. A few moments later and Elijah had slowly peeked up at him. "Yes, Kol?"

"Another Petrova?" Kol snorted.

Elijah rolled his eyes, returning his attention to the novel.

"It's time for you to expand your boundaries, brother." He continued to laugh as Elijah pursed his lips. "And besides, how many of these women have taken an actual interest in you?"

"Two," Elijah answered contently.

"One." Kol corrected, his expression hard.

Elijah was silent. "Yes, I suppose you're right. Tatia had always favored Klaus…" He paused, a slight arrogant smirk forming on the end of his mouth. "I'm surprised you'd admit Elizabeth."

Kol raised his eyebrows, clenching his jaw. "It's the truth, right?"

Elijah shrugged. "Only if you accept it."

Kol frowned. "Well, at least I've only loved one woman in my life. Here you are, calling out Petrovas like Bingo numbers."

Elijah ignored his comment, which seemed mildly immature for his range of comebacks. "This always happens. You try to embarrass me for my lack of a love life, yet…you can only seem to name one time you've fallen madly in love; and if I recall, you're still holding onto that romance."

Kol smirked wickedly, unaffected from his attempted offensive comment. "And so are you."

Elijah froze. "That may be so, Kol yet…I am, as you would say, expanding my boundaries." He raised his eyebrows, smiling widely and slammed the rotting book in his hands. "I'll speak to you later."

And with that, Elijah left with an unnoticeable amount of bliss and if possible, cheeks tinted with crimson.
