A/N: This is one of the many stories I've written for the fic-on-demand LJ community. It was written for a general multifandom request for a fic centering around costumes. This is what my brain churned out. I hope you enjoy!

"You've got to be kidding me!" Draco exclaims as he looks down in shock at the ornate costume in his hand. "You can't expect me to wear this…this is a dress!"
"Which is a perfectly acceptable costume for the character of Juliet," the Muggles studies teacher calmly explains.
"Juliet! When you said I was going to have the lead role, I thought I'd be Romeo. How can I be Juliet…I'm a boy!"
"Well, in Shakespeare's time, all the roles, male and female alike, were played by men because women weren't allowed on stage until much a much later date. I thought giving a boy the role of Juliet would be a fitting way to highlight that Muggle tradition. And as for the role of Romeo, I felt that would be much better suited to Mr. Potter."
Draco stares at his teacher in horror. "It's bad enough that all students are now required to take this filthy class, but there is NO WAY I am playing the romantic interest of Harry Potter, the bloody Boy Who Lived."
"Hey! I'm not too keen on this either, Malfoy," Harry mutters. "I'm sure I'll be the laughing stock of the school once word gets out that I have to kiss you on stage."
"Kiss? We have to kiss!" Draco exclaims, his eyes bulging. "That's it…this is the last straw. I don't care if I fail the class…I am NOT going to play the role of Juliet! My father will hear about this!"
With a final glare at the teacher, Draco throws down the costume he is holding and storms out of the room.
Once he is gone, the rest of the class starts to snicker. Draco, being the only student who didn't arrive on time, was the ideal choice to highlight this part of the day's lesson.
"Oh dear," the teacher says with a small smile. "Perhaps this wasn't the best way to introduce Mr. Malfoy to the Muggle concept of April Fools."
