The wind is cold against pale skin, bare in the moonlit sky.

But her body is colder as she takes the freezing water.

Once fully submerged, she wonders with awe.

And then she giggles at the absurdity of it all.

If people found her, what will they say?

About the stray heiress in the lake with nothing except a midnight blue veil.

For years it reached the curve of her back

as a symbol of royalty; a proof of her loyalty.

And as she strokes the strands, water passing through it,

she considers briefly if now is the time to cut it.

Because tonight she wanted another change.

She picks up her own pieces

while shadows of regret follow her

and then she remembers chasing after him,

the one who gave the strength she needed;

the one who gave her a chance to change.

In return, she gave her heart and soul

But he simply does not need it.

No.

More like he does not want me, she tells herself.

Her heart drowns,

whole body sinks under water.

Naruto-kun...

Why her flesh leaps at the thought of him, she does not know.

Then she comes back for air,

eyes lost within beads of emotions.

She gasps for breath

and hears faint sounds of someone else moving in the water...

Note: Wrote this a few years back. I was supposed to get rid of some tangible memories when I came across this poem and decided to relive some of my fandoms. Yeah, there's more to it.
