Conversation Hearts
I found one on my desk this morning
It read, "I heart you"
I knew that it would taste
Of chemicals
And
Staleness
Because it was May
Way past February
I think I know who it is from
But maybe it is just a wish
To know
Who left this on my desk
This Morning
I found one on my desk this morning
A simple little gift
A candy heart
Made out of Necco Wafer,
Sugar,
Artificial stuff
And other things I don't want to know
About
The red letters spelling out
Three little words
That makes my stomach jump
My heart pump like crazy,
My head buzz,
And I know
In that instant
That I will never eat this chunk
Of unneeded calories
That instead
I will
Slip it into my pocket
And dream
And see if there will be another one
Tomorrow
On my desk
In the morning.
