This poem was inspired by the movie Alexander.
MONOCHROMATIC RAINBOW
Glittering starlight illuminates the night.
The sleek, black vehicle of despair,
And love it will not stop for.
Rainbows of dew, wet and monochromatic,
Oily on the hard ground.
Blurring eyes, wide and brown,
Discoloured but pure, and
So difficult to see.
Only light in the dark, and only red.
Sunlight glistens in his eyes at night
For only thunder pounds
Life in his ears, or else he might be gone.
Or else love might be gone.
Or else history might change.
Racing across the sky, so far below
Glaring autumn moonlight and
Deja-vu in the night. This afternoon.
Ending the beginning.
He shall wake in heightened glory,
Leaving that part from the story.
