As 15 Annabeth Chase sat at the bar, watching the door to the men's bathroom of the teen dance club as Percy vomited inside, she thought about how much she wished that seaweed brain wasn't quite such a… well, seaweed brain! She knew that he wasn't quite so bright, but really, just how obvious can she be! She was starting to think that it might be easier if she just gave up on him entirely.

And yet… he was her seaweed brain. He was stupid, but that just made him stronger, braver, kinder, more… him. She knew that no matter how much she wanted him to see her feelings, Percy's stupidity was part of what made him her Percy. And those feelings were never going to go away.

So when the really cute guy came up to her, asking her if she wanted to dance, she glanced at Percy coming out the door to the men's room, smiled, and said, "Thanks, but I'm waiting for someone."

And as long as it took, she would be there when he came for her. She would always be waiting for her seaweed brain.
