Dark, that was my first thought entering the bar, at least that was until I passed through the second set of doors and my eyes were assaulted with a cacophony of rainbow colours. The music, the atmosphere, the people all adding to the sense that I was finally coming home. I had been to many of the popular gay bars previously, The George, Polo, but here in Dignity, the sense of belonging was far greater than I had every imagined. The small bar was heaving for a Saturday night, drinks were flowing and I was merrily getting my groove on with one 3rd of the most elite dance unit this bar had ever laid eyes on...well at least in our drunken haze we were. Alex and I were engrossed in the music when I felt a hand land on my left butt cheek and squeeze. For a minute second I considered not turning around, by Rao Im glad I changed my mind. Spinning round eyes ablaze with anger and expecting to be met by the stupidly grinning face of some guy, I was instead met with the ocean blue eyes I had fantasised about weeks previously every ounce of anger melted immediately under their gaze. Breathing seemed a foreign concept in those seconds that seemed to stretch for an eternity. My eyes flickered from those blue orbs to the lips beneath, that were stretched in a lop sided seductive smile travelling back up a wink had me come undone and I spun on my heel and headed to the bar. Dutch courage was definitely required to face this goddess. A jug full of liquid courage later, one hot dance that would put Bey to shame and I was tumbling head first for this woman. My usual poise, swag and banter lost in a sea of emotions, this woman affected me in ways I couldn't even begin to imagine. I may be Supergirl, I may have dated sports stars and models before but they were not in league with her. There was no competition, no comparison. She had, had me weeks previously at an eye lock and a smirk on a soccer field at a charity game when I had unknowingly wore the opposition colours to support an ex during a game. Then afterwards at dinner in the pub when she had sat facing me in the booth behind, I caught her stealing glances and although at the time I missed them for what they were I know they were still there.
Years later she will deny all this but I believe she suffers from selective memory and will never agree that it was mutual attraction at first sight. Her version of events would paint her as the cool seductress who wasn't in the middle of a giant internal battle of emotions at realising we were present at the same bar...together.
"Danvers, fancy seeing you here and minus your girlfriend I see"she smirked. Rao, I am done for, she will kill me, this woman will be the death of me. Play it cool Kara play it cool.
"Ex-girlfriend Lena, we broke up a couple weeks ago." I replied shyly, acutely aware of how close the young Luthor had come to me as I was speaking. Breathe hitching as Lena leaned further in before whispering in my ear, "only a fool, would let you go." Her lips grazed my cheek bone before she pulled back and winked. She then reached down and threaded her fingers through mine before silently pulling me towards the dance floor.
Lena spun me gently and pulled my back towards her front while settling her hands on my hips. Rao it felt so good and so right...a perfect fit.
