-Just so we're all clear, Xandra's dyed her hair purple now, hence why it's darker xD Enjoy this short little one shot based on the latest chapter! It ('it' meaning the new chapter..and writing this story too, actually lol) totally made me cry! If you haven't read the new chapter, go! Go now! I command you! xD Anywho, story time!-
The dark haired girl had silently watched as Natsu and the future Rogue fought; something about the man who'd been overcome by his own shadows made her heart race. When the fighting ceased, she'd made her way towards the man as his body rested in the rubble of the Eclipse.
As Xandra stepped up beside Natsu, he held an arm out to stop her from going any farther.
"Tell your Rogue to protect Frosch in a year," the future Rogue muttered. He looked over at Natsu, but then past the salmon-haired boy towards the girl behind him. "No..."
Xandra pushed Natsu's arm away and took a few steps towards the broken dragon slayer. "Wh-What are you saying?!" Her eyes were narrowed into a glossy glare as she fought back angry tears at the thought of losing Frosch, while also holding back from slapping the man of course. How dare he say such things about the girl's best friend!
A faint smile found itself on Rogue's lips as the girl demanded an answer from him. He placed a hand on her shoe and watched her for a moment. He didn't even wince when she screamed "What do you mean!" At him once more.
"Xandra..."
Behind them, Natsu blinked. "So he remembers you too..." He hadn't realized Lilla had stepped up beside him until he heard a gentle "Good" muttered by his side, finishing his statement for him.
"Not being able to protect Frosch," Rogue whispered. "I nearly lost you too...to your own darkness when Frosch died."
Xandra's lips began to quiver and she fell to her knees beside the dragon slayer.
"The only thing that kept you from you darkness was your determination to keep me from mine." He reached a hand up to the girl's cheek and slowly wiped away a tear. "I had hoped to never make you cry again."
Xandra put a hand on top of his but couldn't muster the strength to speak.
"I should have listened to that beautiful, soft voice of yours back then. I lost my best friends and it was all my fault."
"R-Rogue..."
The future Rogue's body began to fade away. "Save Frosch. Tell your Rogue he must protect the two he loves the most. Save..."
"Rogue!" Xandra squealed and tried to squeeze his hand in an effort to make him stay as his voice and figure faded.
"...me."
The body was gone and Xandra's emotions got the best of her. She broke into a fit of tears and threw her hands over her face, leaning forward a bit and trembling.
The warmth of arms wrapping around her and pulling her into someone's chest caught her off guard and she looked up with a gasp of shock. Rogue, her Rogue, put a hand on the back of her head and pulled her into the tightest, yet gentle, hug he could manage.
"Rogue..." Xandra whispered and threw her arms around his neck, leaning her head into his collar bone as tears continued flowing.
The shadow man pressed his lips against the girl's ear softly as the little frog-cat hugged Xandra's side lovingly. "I'm here. Frosch is here." He kissed the girl's forehead and leaned his head against hers once more, "And we're not going anywhere."
"Fro thinks so too!"
I hit myself in the feels with this one...haha..
