The road seemed as endless as the sky above it, twisting every which way and who knew where and with the sky as dark as it was tonight, Amiboshi didn't know where they were going or even if they were moving at all. He was so exhausted he was beginning to wonder if he was standing still and the ground only seemed like it was moving under his feet.
Suddenly, he noticed Suboshi wasn't behind him and panicked. In the split seconds he'd turned his back, his brother could've been hurt or kidnapped or even-
-a snore caught his attention, and he rolled his eyes. Typical Suboshi had simply given up on their journey for the night and was sleeping contentedly in a patch of grass nearby.
"Suboshi, honestly." But even as he spoke his feet were aching and his vision blurring, so he sighed and laid down beside his brother on the grass, throwing an arm across his shoulders.
The road's not going anywhere, so what difference does it make if we don't either? For a while, at least.
