The night sky seemed to go on forever, or at least it did to Michel Ninorich.

Though it had been dark for a few hours, the heat of the day had yet to dissipate, leaving Michel feeling all sticky from the humidity. With the shirt of his uniform unbuttoned, Michel lay on the ground, looking up at the endless number of stars. Even now they amazed him, just as they had when he had been a little kid. Thinking of his childhood reminded him of the letter he had recently received from Shiro. In the letter Shiro had told him of how he and Aina were now parents of a little girl, who had been born a few months ago, oddly enough exactly a year after the war had begun. After he and Kiki had found Shiro alive and well, Michel found himself back in uniform after re-enlisting. The need for soldiers was rising after the Zeon had started to return to the area, occupying a few villages. Michel yawned, but for now he was on two weeks vacation. Turning his attention back to the stars, Michel closed his eyes a bit.

Try as she might, all that would come from the old motorcycle engine was a weak sputtering. Getting off the bike Kiki Rosita kicked the front tire and swore under her breath. Kiki sighed, it was going to be a long walk back to the village. As she made he way down the dirt road, she looked up at the star lit sky. She smiles, nights like this reminded her of that night she had taken that letter from Michel had gotten from his girl friend, of course reading it out loud had made Michel feel horrible, and even now she still felt bad for doing that. That wasn't the memory that made her smile, it was sitting out under the stars with him, after she had apologized, and talking for hours. Kiki hadn't seen him since the two of them had found Shiro, but often, especially lately, she found herself thinking about him. Why? Why Michel? she had asked herself over and over again, but she could never come up with an answer. As she continued walking, something caught her eye, looking into a little clearing she saw a jeep, and a young man in a Federation uniform, stretched out beside the jeep. Getting a little closer, a smile slowly crept on to her face.

Michel had just begun to doze off when a familiar voice woke him. "Hey, shouldn't you be working?" Michel rolled over on his stomach, to look at the red haired girl. "Kiki? what are you doing here?" She smiled, walking up beside him. "I was running some errands in the near by town, but that good for nothing old bike finally died on me. I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner." Michel nodded, not saying anything. Kiki sat beside him. "I was just heading back to my village," Buttoning his shirt, Michel turned to face her. "Finally all rebuilt?" Kiki nodded. "If you wanted to give me a ride back, you could see it for yourself." Michel couldn't help but laugh a little. "I knew something like that was coming." Kiki shrugged, and gave him an innocent smile. "Well, I guess you could just let me walk back all alone in the dark...." Playfully pushing her, Michel rose to his feet, brushing the dirt off his uniform. "Well I wouldn't dream of making you walk back in the dark, now all alone, that's another story." Kiki grinned, climbing into the passenger side of the jeep. Michel shook his head "Sure Kiki you can have a ride back." Kiki smiled, deciding to return the sarcasm. "Well I'm only getting a ride back, because your such a nice guy," Michel nodded "Well at least your honest" Kiki rolled her eyes slightly, laughing slightly. " Of course I am." Michel started the jeep's engine and started off in the direction of Kiki's village.

Well....that's it for chapter one, But there is more to come...chapter two coming sooner or later.
