I walked into the Great Hall in complete awe. It was absolutely amazing in here. Students sat at the four tables with large smiles on their faces. If this is dream I never want to wake up from it.

Neville was shaking next to me and I whispered softly, "Look at the ceiling its bewitched to look like the night sky, I read about it in Hogwarts a History."

He looked up at the ceiling and distracted tripped over his feet. I caught him before he could fall. He smiled nervously and pulled me closer.

"I hope we'll be in the same house."

"We will and if we're not you'll make some friends." He smiled nervously.

The hat just finished singing a song about the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Kids one after another went up and put the hat on and waited till it sorted them. It had to be one smart hat to be able to do that.

"Granger, Hermione!" I jumped at my name and quickly walked up to the hat and placed it on my head.

"Hmmm a very smart mind with a love of learning but brave so brave. Brave enough to tackle more than most." It paused a moment.

"GRYFFINDOR!" I jumped and placed the hat back on the chair and ran to sit next to a boy with red hair and glasses as the table cheered. He smiled at me and patted me on the back.

"Well done Hermione."

"Thank you uh..."

"Percy... Percy Weasley. My brother is in your year." He nodded at a boy with red hair. I looked closer at him and realized he was the one I asked about Neville's toad.

"I met him on the train but..."

"Longbottom, Neville!" I stopped and looked up. Neville sat on the chair and I waited nervously. The hat took longer than most probably deciding between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. He didn't have an sneaky bone in his body so he couldn't be in Slytherin.

"GRYFFINDOR!" I clapped loudly with the rest of the table and hugged him as he sat next to me.

"You were great Neville." He smiled brightly and leaned into me.

More people were sorted and then Harry Potter was called. The hall went deadly silent and he kept his eyes firmly on his feet as he moved forward. Poor kid being famous for having his parents killed at the age of one. He sat on the chair and pulled the hat on. The hat took longer than it had on any of the others until finally it yelled out.

"GRYFFINDOR!" He looked relieved as he walked towards our table. A pair of red headed twins were yelling, "We got Potter!" Repeatedly and he sat down across from me blushing looking as if he wished the floor would swallow him.

More kids were sorted then Ron, a pale green color tinging his cheeks, sat on the stool. He sat there a moment then the hat yelled out Gryffindor and sat next to Harry. I smiled at Neville and started in on the food that appeared a moment later. I love magic.
