All I Need
620 words
Charlie takes his time getting ready for bed, meticulously combing his hair and scrubbing every tooth. His whole body aches from lifting boxes all day, and he wants nothing more than to climb into bed and sleep for a few days. And yet…
"You gonna be much longer?" Seamus calls through the door.
"You can't hog the bathroom all night, Charles," he hears Draco shout from the bedroom.
Charlie takes a deep breath. He calmly puts away his toothbrush and exits the bathroom, standing aside so Seamus can go in.
Draco is already under the duvet, reading one of his healing journals with half-lidded eyes. He catches Charlie watching him and pulls a face. "Put on your pajamas already. It's cold under here."
Charlie is close to hyperventilating as he heads into their closet for privacy. It takes him three tries to get his feet through the correct pantlegs, and another minute to pull the bottoms up with shaking hands. He decides to forego the struggle of putting a shirt on and emerges from the closet slowly, arms crossed over his bare chest.
"Took you long enough," Draco mutters, setting his journal down on the nightstand.
Seamus is settled on the other side of the bed, setting his alarm clock. Which leaves several feet in between them for Charlie. He's starting to shiver, still standing by the closet, yet the thought of climbing into bed terrifies him.
It's their first night together - all of them, in one bed. Charlie really should have expected this when he agreed to move in. He deluded himself into thinking it wouldn't be a big deal, that he would somehow get around the conversation. But there's only one bed or a lumpy sofa.
Seamus finishes with his alarm and looks expectantly at Charlie, instantly noticing his boyfriend's shivering.
"Are you alright?"
"I c-can't do this," Charlie stammers. He doesn't think he's ever been this nervous, not during his flying lessons, or even facing his first dragon. Having this conversation could ruin everything, it could destroy his relationships with both Draco and Seamus, and that's the last thing he wants.
Draco is watching him with concern now. He hops out of bed and hurries to his side, wrapping an arm around him. "Come to bed, hon. Tell us what's wrong."
"Not the bed," Charlie pleads. "I don't want it."
"Don't want what?" Seamus asks.
"Sex."
He says it without meaning to, but then it's out there and time seems to move slowly. He's frozen in fear, watching for his boyfriends to lash out, to kick him out.
Seamus' laughter breaks the silence. "We're just sharing a bed. We don't have do anything you don't want to do."
"...Really?" Charlie asks hopefully.
Draco's arm never leaves Charlie's shoulders. He remains rooted to Charlie's side. "Why didn't you tell us?"
Charlie shrugs, looking away from Draco's stern gaze. "I didn't think either of you would want to be with me if you knew I wasn't interested in sex. I just … I thought I could do it, but I can't."
Draco smacks his arm lightly. "That's for not telling us sooner. Of course we want to be with you, you imbecile. We love you." He pushes Charlie towards the bed.
"There's nothing you can say or do that's going to turn us off at this point, love," Seamus adds. He holds the duvet back so Charlie can slide in, Draco following right after. "But you have to tell us when there's something bothering you about our arrangement. You'd expect the same from us."
"I will. I promise," Charlie says. He kisses them both goodnight and sighs contentedly, falling into a peaceful sleep in the warmth of their embrace.
