Ymir is not quite sure how Christa got in the roof, but there she is, hugging her knees to her chest, looking up at the night sky.
It's not going to do if Ymir just stays down on the ground. She can hear Jaeger and Kirschstein snoring through the door, so that's a no to going back to sleep – sure, a lot of the members of the 104th Trainees Squad snore, hell, she's not the quietest sleeper, but they're the worst of the bunch.
So, she makes her way up there, pulling herself up to sit next to her angel.
Christa looks at her. "Hello," she says, smiling that cute little smile, and Ymir can feel the butterflies, those stupid fucking butterflies that won't go away whenever Christa looks at her, erupt in her stomach, fluttering around and overall making her nervous.
She grunts a hello back, though, sitting with one leg stretched out in front of her and the other with the knee bent up far enough so that she can use it as an armrest.
"Couldn't sleep?" Christa asks, still trying to make conversation like the sweet girl she is. Ymir shook her head.
"Can you hear Jaeger and Kirschstein? Surprised anyone can sleep," Ymir says, tipping her head back to look at the stars. Christa laughs a little, a sweet, pretty, innocent-sounding laugh.
"I don't know, Sasha and Connie really do give them a run for their money," she says, turning that smile on Ymir again and Ymir is surprised that she doesn't fucking melt. Instead, she slings an arm around Christa's shoulder.
"Can't even hear them over the other two idiots, honestly," Ymir says. "It's nicer up here, anyway."
"It is," Christa agrees. "The night sky is a beautiful thing."
"Almost as pretty as you," Ymir says, almost without thinking. Christa looks at her. It's too dark to see if she's blushing, but Ymir thinks she might be – it's not the first time Ymir's said exactly what was on her mind relating to how she feels about Christa, and she always reacts the same way. Ymir doesn't know if she likes it or not, really, all she's focusing on is not proposing then and there. Because she would. She would spend the rest of her life, however long that might end up being, with Christa.
Christa seems to like this compliment, though, because she leans into Ymir, resting her head on Ymir's shoulder. Christa's a small girl, and if they weren't both sitting down with Ymir slouching a bit, Christa wouldn't have a hope of it. But Ymir adjusts for her, because she wants Christa as close as she will get. She tightens her arm around Christa.
They watch the night sky a little longer, watching the stars and the moon. Ymir isn't looking at the sky as much as she's looking at Christa, though, looking at the moonlight shining off of her hair, the way she smiles when she looks at the sky, just how beautiful, how fucking beautiful she is.
When the sky starts to lighten, Christa stands up, stretching a bit. She bends down to give Ymir a quick kiss on the cheek before sliding down back to the ground, and then she's gone, like the whole thing never happened.
It was sure as hell going to happen again, though, if Ymir had anything to say about it.
This is my first time writing anything Shingeki no Kyojin but I hope that it worked out okay? Either way, this was requested by subspacebag on Tumblr, who wanted a ymir/christa. This takes place during their training days, by the way.
But, um, anyway, there's that!
